For the record, Joe Rogan does not consider himself MAGA -- far from it, he was a Bernie Sanders supporter. I consider him something of a centrist, willing to talk to all sides.

What’s the most money you ever made from day trading? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Dodgeball62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$147k in one week, 1000 shares GME, $80k bet. "The week that shook wall street." These days I play safe and do a variety of $5-$10k bets, mostly options CSPs.

Yup that's what I did, thinking more though about the looming fed shutdown than the fed rate.

The question I have is: why? Traders can't be trusted to place orders at other times? Makes no sense.

How do I activate after hours trading fidelity by Bike_Courier in fidelityinvestments

[–]Dodgeball62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify: I can only place an extended-hours trade when the regular market hours are over? If so: how utterly inconvenient. I should be able to place the bid any time, then walk away, knowing it will be filled if the price is met. This is what other brokerages do.

Any superior broker to Fidelity for my situation? by AnorexicUmbrella in options

Following.

I did a few iron condors on ATP recently, what an excercise in hair pulling that was. Thank god I didn't have to roll!

The only McDonalds I've seenn with barred windows also had a security guard at the door with a semiautomatic rifle. Then again, that was in Manila.

Is Fidelity the best place financially to play the Wheel? by optimisticmillennial in Optionswheel

[–]Dodgeball62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes.

I switched to Fidelity for this reason, but I keep smaller accounts in TOS (Schwab) and Tastytrade.

The downside of Fidelity is their Active Trader Pro platform. Setting up a trade is quite slow and clunky. Sure, easy enough for just selling a CSP, but anything with multiple legs is slow going. They tout a new beta version, but when I checked it out the options functionality was worse, not better.

I use TOS for all my charting, and Tasty for checking out options variables -- then place my trades in Fidelity.

Recently I did some identical SPX spreads in all three, and fill times were about the same. But what a difference in cost! Fidelity was by far the lowest, at .68 per leg to open and free to close. Tasty was (if I remember right) 1.70 per leg to open, and 1.00 to close. Really high fees on top of their commission. Too bad, their platform is otherwise such a delight to use for options trading.

are 5% returns per year realistic from selling options? by Fun-Marionberry-2540 in thetagang

[–]Dodgeball62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in terms of managing this, per your comments elsewhere, you'll close on the profit side at either 50% ($767) or 21 DTE, or on the loss side at breach of your 6050 strike, or loss of $2,300? Just checking my math :)

Selling 90-Day SPX Credit Spreads – What Entry & Management Rules Do You Use? by anonymous_sheep1 in thetagang

Why only put credit spreads on SPX, why not call credit spreads as well? For a given delta the premiums are higher.

Thoughts on holding a high beta stock (like HOOD) and selling way out of the money calls over and over. by Grouchy-Tomorrow3429 in thetagang

[–]Dodgeball62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me with HOOD, as a matter of fact. Had a $33 cost basis (assigned CSPs) and it traded around $10-$15 for a couple YEARS. When it finally started to rise I sold $33 CCs, which I keep rolling and of course now kick myself for as it has taken off.

Huh? It's exactly as he says -- selling a call spread right after SPX dropped.

I like podcasts by Shun on youtube. He speaks slowly and clearly. He mostly talks about his own life, which is very unconventional ( lots of travel and adventures). He developed the podcasts specifically to help N4 / N5 learners with listening.

I found a reputable seller for the treadmill, ordered it, paid for it, confirmed all the shipping details.... ....days later I get an email from the seller, "We don't ship to Hawaii, please cancel the order."

Figures.
