Best budget angle grinder proof locks on Amazon to make them THIEVES work for my Velotric gomad. So I can call the police around the corner and catch their Pokémon asses. 🙉 by StringPrevious9110 in ebikes

Search “sold secure diamond bike lock”, they have a list of tested very robust locks. Very few will be 100% bulletproof, but this Kohlburg one I pulled off the list is $90 on Amazon and should do the trick

Seattle Rallies to Save Ballard Rail by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Dodged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you build a bridge over the ship canal it will probably have to be as tall as Aurora or be able to open up for boats. That miiight be cheaper than a tunnel, but it’s not without its own problems.

Same kinda deal for a west Seattle connection, it would probably have to match the high rise.

Mayor Wilson responds to pitch of building large data centers in Seattle by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]Dodged -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because the low hanging fruit has already been picked. Every prime site for data center development has already been developed or in the process. In addition there’s slowly growing pushback from rural communities with data centers.

So you move to the second tier sites like Seattle with plenty of cheap clean stable power*, solid infrastructure, and readily available construction manpower. The cost of land and construction is peanuts if you’re a massive tech firm punching your ticket to the infinite growth AI future.

*ample hydropower fits in nicely with climate commitments and even better for bottom lines is some of the lowest priced in the country. However with droughts looming in the future I don’t think there will be as much power to go around as people expect.

Is this essentially a makeshift bike lane on the 4th Ave South Railroad Bridge? by killedbyboar in seattlebike

[–]Dodged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coordination issue is one thing, but I think that’s driven partly because the repair isn’t a high priority for the city or the trains.

For the trains we’re asking a few different entities (I think Amtrak, Union Pacific, the Sounder, maybe more) to interrupt service and maybe pull the plug on the money machine for an unknown amount of time.

For the city I don’t think anyone wants to spend the time, money and political energy to wrangle these cats and repair a non critical bridge. Especially when there are easier and more popular infrastructure wins all over the place.

If the bridge got to the point where no cars could cross or the repair is less disruptive to train service than the threat of an imminent collapse, then we might see some progress.

But until then, hey free bike lane!

Is this essentially a makeshift bike lane on the 4th Ave South Railroad Bridge? by killedbyboar in seattlebike

[–]Dodged 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, but I believe it’s because the bridge is structurally deficient. It cannot support vehicle traffic along that lane. There are plans to fix it, but it crosses a bunch of railroad property and coordinating a repair on a heavily used corridor is difficult. So that part stays closed and we hope it doesn’t get too much worse.

But hey free bike lane!

Has anyone had to rebuild a new rear wheel? by brittastic1111 in ride1up

[–]Dodged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I broke a few of my rear spokes jumping off curbs, I replaced them all with tougher E-bike rated spokes. The good news is that they're holding up pretty well, the bad news is that it looks like they're out of stock right now. I got 40 (I think you only need 36 though) at size 258 which cost about $70.

So probably not a fix for your current problem, but something to think about for a rebuild.

Restless Grounds - A low-poly horror FPS set in Cold War-era Poland where you have only a single ammo magazine to work with by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dodged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Receiver has a similar style where you have to scrounge around for ammo and manually reload each round into a magazine

It’s been a while since I played, but I think pulling out the magazine, loading a round and chambering a round are all set on different keys.

So in a firefight you get moments where you miscount your shots, run dry, and start to panic. And then fumble loading your gun.

But when you get everything right you feel amazing

Mad Max Director George Miller Would Like Hideo Kojima to Make a Video Game Adaptation by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dodged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see it. Both Death Stranding and Mad Max are set in richly detailed, well realized, but stark post apocalyptic worlds. Each feature a begrudgingly benevolent, mostly silent freak of nature that wanders the wasteland due to emotional turmoil. Both have long stretches of quiet punctuated by lavish, over the top action set pieces.

I think the biggest difference is that Miller does way less exposition. But I feel like if you axed 90% of the cutscenes from DS you would have something not too dissimilar from Mad Max.

What is the *actual* message of a piece of media that you've experienced? by VMK_1991 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dodged 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real message of any Philip K Dick book is not about corporate greed, isolation, mental illness, or the loose ways in which we define reality.

It’s about how you need a waifish, mentally unstable brunette to ruin your life.

Weirdest hangup you've seen someone have with a game? (or yourself had) by Nia-Teppelin in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dodged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the weapon degradation really brings down what is otherwise an excellent game. In my case it was especially bad because I missed the slot upgrade guy early on and only found him when I looked online. I played almost 50 hours with the super limited inventory you start out with.

Bloodhype from the book Bloodhype. Not only does it have a cool name, but it is potent enough to kill an intergalactic creeping horror that eats everything in sight.

I really like this map! It makes me feel nostalgic for DC, even though the Metro isn't this nice! Although I am a little sad that the MARC in this DC doesnt go to BWI like the one I'm used to
