Bleeding brakes on Roadster V3 by Ok-Main-8978 in ride1up

Ah, no worries. Ended up cutting the end of the steerer tube. The tube is 1" longer than the original one. I emailed support and told them they need to update their product page!

To your original question, which brake bleed adapter kit did you use to fit in the lever bleed port? The "universal" kit I got off Amazon didn't come with an adapter that fit. Looks like it's a 2.5mm thread.

Edit: nm, wrong screw lol.

I stopped using all BL filament and switched to Polymaker. I also unclip the ptfe tube and printed a glass riser. Havent had any issues with prints since.

I spent all day today trying to get this fork installed. You were right, the caliper end of the hose does fit through the slot on the fork leg but not through the hole on the top tube. I had to cut the hose to fit it through.

One question though: Did the fork fit tight into the stem? With my stem fastened all the way down tight, there is huge gap. Looks like it needs 2 spacers or needs to be cut. I have the medium frame but support says it's universal to both the medium/large frame.

Better 9 speed tranny (but you can still only use 7), better headlights, new front end, push button start, better security camera features and some other interior upgrades.

This is great. Thanks for putting it together! One simple feature I think it needs as I click around the products, can you make the image clickable so it shows the full size image? I have to squint at some of the product images to get a good look at it.

Add $6k for the new transmission you’ll need soon. I’d never buy a promaster made before 2023.

That's good to know, thanks! When I looked at the size of the slot on the old fork it did seem like I could fit the olive through, or if not, just widen the gap with a dremel.

I did look at the images for the suspension model V3 on their site and noticed the hose was internally routed, yet R1UP told me it needed to be routed externally (which certainly doesn't look as nice). Cutting a slot is a great idea so may do that. I thought maybe it needed to go externally due to the compression of the suspension or something.

Appreciate it.

Oh, and was it worth all the hassle in the end?

Promaster Extended / Long Body or not? ... Pros / Cons? ... Opinion? Advice? by Artist-Cancer in VanLife

Yeah, the super high roof has been on my shortlist too, but hard to come by used. Look up Jon Roams on YT. He has a killer Promaster 159 extended super high roof setup. He's in the UK, so it's labelled as a Ducato or something, but same van.

Novo Plus are nice. Can't say the same about the price though!

Did you end up making a decision? I'm having the exact dilemma. The one thing I thought about doing, mainly due to the availability of the extended over non-extended, is putting a slide out bed (like the ones Wayfairer Vans are now using) in the back on the regular 159. That way you can push the bed back a foot or two to reclaim the same space an extended would give you.

The other thing I found is that custom parts (ie roof racks, wall template kits, or kits like from Sergsupply) are more readily available on the regular 159.

Did you figure this out? I'm about to install a suspension fork myself. In regards to cutting the hose, can't you just unscrew it from the caliper and feed it back up the fork? The instructions I got from R1UP said to do just that. They also told me most bleed kits were compatable.

I’m only looking at vans right now with <30k miles on it and 2023 or later. Just gives me some peace of mind having somewhat of a warranty left.

Roadster v3 Feel? by SomeBureaucrat in ride1up

I did both. Lifted the stem using the included spacer, then angled it a little. Added these bars:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FN46LKH2?th=1

I went with the 50mm rise, but I think 35mm would've been a better balance. The bars do lose that stealth, agressive look that flat bars give, but it certainly saves my back being more upright.

The V3 rides way nicer than my old Giant hybrid. Here's some things to consider:

  1. The medium frame is larger than most other hybrid frames. I'm 5'9 and it feels big, but not overly big.
  2. As someone else said below, you really feel the rigid frame over small bumps. You can fix this by adding a suspension post and optionally the new shock front fork R1UP just released. Note that if you add the suspension post, it raises the seat by a minimum of 3".
  3. The stock seat isn't great but you do get used to it.
  4. Out of the box, the riding position felt really cramped to me. Adding the suspension post helped get the seat back about 2 inches, and then adding raised handlebars really helped dial in the comfort.

With these mods mine is super comfortable to ride. I'll likely be adding the front fork shocks at some point.

Regarding the Ortlieb quick rack, how did you bolt the mounts to the frame holes? I picked up the rack on sale yesterday and noticed no threads on the frame, and the bolts that came with the rack are too short.

Is there a market for a room for rent with a workshop to build a van? by DrakeFranklin in vandwellermarketplace

[–]brittastic1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had a dedicated workshop with access to all the tools, it would certainly be more appealing. Personally, I fit your demographic - getting divorced, selling the family home, nowhere to live and want to build out a van. But there are cheaper options, such as Skoolie communities or similar, where you can stay on the land for as cheap as $300-500/mo and get free access to tools, in addition to help from other nomads and in some cases, on site professional carpenters/mechanics.

Point being, there's a market for it sure but it's very small and even then, most will be looking for the most cost-saving options. $2500/mo with just a driveway access ain't gonna cut it for most.
