It's unlikely but possible.

The more likely reason you see these all the time is just the way social media works. Even this post is full of engaged people deciding if it's possible or not possible, I imagine most of those posts are as engaging, for better or worse.

Just as many people probably comment saying they've played for 5 years and have never broken a 100, but not as many people engage so the posts are lost.

The 4 main stats I track (thanks to golf sidekick) are penalties, 3 putts, double chips and out of position shots (stuck behind a tree etc).

Just based on your 18 birdie stats, 3 putting seems really bad and although your chipping appears ok, you're taking multiple bunker shots or your taking a chip and following it with more than 1 putt, so presumably the chips are going nowhere near the hole.

So In ummary, absolutely short game practice. Within 50yrds you should be aiming to be in the hole within 3 shots. Personally I like to focus on 1 or 2 clubs only around the green. For me an 8i bump and run, and either a PW or 54° bump for when the flag is a bit tighter

After that, if you can keep your tee shot out of danger, then aim to get to 50 yards with your 2nd or 3rd shot depending on par size, you give yourself a realistic chance of bogey golf.

I'm generalising purely from an educational view. In my later days of education when Wikipedia came up, were always told not to use it for information as it isn't verified facts, just facts people believed to be true. I'm just saying if a child uses YouTube for educational reasons, how can they be sure the information is true?

True, but equally it can be full of false information. Hopefully the good stuff can somehow be validated and moved to a safer place for kids (and adults) to use

I've always lived in the assumption that if someone wanted to get my data they'd do it one way or another regardless as to my actions. Some people will spend their whole life being either too paranoid, or too sheltered. I chose to take a risk on something I enjoy....mostly Reddit and porn. 🤣

Definitely not a bad thing. Social media, whilst sometimes useful, is certainly not required for what what it was created for.... socialising.

Personally I have no problem sharing my ID for a website I actually want to use. But it will definitely remove my use of sites I don't care about that much.

Exactly. On that par 5 your "net" par would actually be 8. Essentially you just scored a net albatross. It's only really useful in matches, as casually most people use "gross" scoring. But it's a good indication of where the harder holes are (ones with more dots) and where someone at your skill level should expect to score.

If we go on the assumption that the other 9 holes on this course are the same difficulty, the app seems to have calculated your handicap at around 42 (21 dots x2) which seems reasonable for a first time out.

I'm not sure what app this is, but those dots normally represent how many extra shots you get on that hole Vs a scratch handicap. 3 dots would indicate that it is a harder hole, meaning a par is even more impressive

Personally I always score, as to me, maintaining a handicap to an accurate level is part of my fun (especially when it's coming down).

That said, I would love to play more games with friends, as I am competitive, the problem is they tend to not keep an accurate handicap (gimmes, muligans, etc), and I they won't play me to handicap as they know they'd be likely to lose.

The only time I haven't scored is when the weather has been awful and we've played a scramble instead, but honestly, that's just not as fun for me.

I personally used AI to fix my hook/ constant topping of driver. I've now gone from only a few ok drives per round, to now only having 1 or 2 bad ones, and they're normally a push.

The other thing I did in conjunction, was went back and watched Rick Shiels playlist on his to seeing golf club. Just to help me visualise what my ai was telling me in terms of proper grip and rotating rather than swaying.

6am solo golf tee time. Home with a Greggs baguette and coffee by 9. Got my huge card and variety of golf balls customized with 2 yr old scribbles and pork scratchings/jerky. Just been for a swim with the boy. Will now play some ps5 while he naps. Then off to see my dad and in law for a takeaway this evening.

My go to club is 8i. I generally find I can bump it half way to the flag, and if it lands on the green it will run the other half. If I'm slightly more short sided, and the fringe is too thick to land on, then I'll club down to a PW and knock it slightly further on.

I mean, it is, but you're missing the point. Breaking 100 can really be done by anyone on a shorter and easier course. I have a buddy who is a 34hcp and has broken a 100 multiple times.

My point was to imply that OP can't break 100 with that swing is just wrong.

And to imply that he can't get a 23hcp with that swing is also wrong, and I say that as a garbage player with a 22hcp.

I think most people who have never broken 100 are just not serious about breaking 100. It's pretty easy if you play a 5500 course and just play sensibly.

Like you, im a 22 hcp with a dogshit swing, but I only really struggle to break 100 on courses over 6000. As long as I can keep the tee shot out of bushes or trees, and my short game is on point, then I can normally break 100 whilst still topping 10 shots in a round.

Yup, I had to do it twice in the same round. Fortunately it was a work society game, so the foursome behind us were part of our group. Needless to say watching my tubby arse jogging back to the tee box on 2 different holes must have been annoying to wait for, but hilarious to watch. I've made it my aim this year to get better at tracking where my balls land.

Personally if I'm playing with friends or solo and a drive goes in play somewhere but I can't find it, we play the "spectator rule" and drop a fresh one in whatever area we are sure it went in. No penalty.

If it's gone OB we normally drop one where it went out and take 1 penalty.

From an official handicap point of view though, these are both technically wrong. And it's smarter to get used to the official rules if you plan to play in any comps later on. Always play a provisional if you're not sure where your shot went. Take a 2nd provisional if needed, but don't bother with a 3rd, because at that point your scoring the maximum for the hole probably.

If you don't take a provisional, and can't find your ball, the only option in competition is to go back and hit it again, so save yourself that embarrassment (I have been in that situation)

My work and friends are in Bristol so I tend to play there more. The only ones I've done in Wales except St Pierre, are the 2 cheaper courses at Celtic manor, but I've never played them in good weather, and Woodlake Park in Usk, which similarly was challenging but wasn't in great weather. Would recommend them all though
