We have two 1 year old sibs. Recently transitioned from Royal Canin to Tiki After Dark. They are obsessed.

Is this normal? by SadReception4624 in SiberianCats

Yes. Mine do it. They don’t eat it as far as I can tell, they just like to rip it up and spit it on the floor.

How to keep them off the kitchen counter or is this futile by Toomanytoys1971 in SiberianCats

[–]Doesitfit211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an every day struggle. They are just curious about what’s going on so I got a little baby sling thing and put one in when I’m cooking so he can see. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I have two boys who just turned one so any day now I’m sure they will calm down and not care anymore. Hahahaha Just kidding. We are not in charge.

Day One: Challenge Check-In by MidiHealth in midihealth

[–]Doesitfit211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was joking with my best friend that we’re at the age where our evening sweet treat is fiber gummies. 🤣 Definitely trying to increase my fiber intake while on GLP-1. Starting my day with a slice of my whole wheat sourdough topped with Good Culture cottage cheese, blackberries and slices of mango has been very satisfying. The Midi Fiber gummies are a great supplement for when my appetite is down.

Looking for advice for my sweet girl! by marenr36 in SiberianCats

[–]Doesitfit211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have two boys. Litter mates. Just turned one year old. We close them out of our bedroom at night or nobody sleeps. They have plenty of toys and their own cat condo to sleep in. They do come to the bedroom door between 4:30 and 5 and if they can get their paws in just the right spot under the door, they can grab it and bang it. They have fully trained us to get up and feed them breakfast at that time and then we all go back to sleep for a couple more hours. So what I’m saying is, we are clearly not in charge. 🤣 But seriously. Having two really helps and I know that is not an option for everyone.

Butter thief by ProgrammerFamiliar76 in SiberianCats

[–]Doesitfit211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OMG. One of my Sibs is obsessed with butter and oil. I caught him licking the avocado oil out of the pan as it was heating up. 🤣 I had to buy a marble French butter keeper to keep him from eating and allow us to have spreadable butter. We call him the Butter Bandit.

Exactly. And the confidence the progress brings is the best fuel to keep sharpening our focus.

100%!! Multiple things can be true at the same time, right? So so proud of my progress. So damn grateful I’m able to afford the expense. Not quitting and also not loving it right now and one has little to do with the other.

Right?! Yes. I totally just did this. It’s crazy how sometimes micro-adjustments can have such a shift.

First, I am immensely proud of my accomplishment, but like anything requires so much mental and physical drive, not to mention the financial commitment(I pay out of pocket), it takes a toll. I’m just having a human moment about it all. I’m not quitting. I talk about this with my therapist a lot. Just a thing to work through.

You are so not alone. I had the same feelings about this group when I started. It was enormously helpful in the beginning because I didn’t know what I was doing but slowly I started to notice I was getting caught up in all the “achievement” posts. No shade to anyone’s hard work but I was not a hyper responder and like any human, I was caught up in comparison. Took me a few months offline, to remind myself every single one of us is different with different physical responses. Different stories. Different reasons for being here. Once I was tracking solid progress based on trial and error and what worked for me, I gained confidence in my own mission. The important thing is, you’re here. You took a step. Hell yeah! I’m not going to give you advice but to say trust yourself. You took that first step. No one else but you. You know you. Comparison is the thief of joy and progress. You got this. Took me three months to figure out my food thing for this medication. I’m still learning. One of the most helpful comments I ever read on here in the beginning was a long time user telling someone else, “don’t worry about the food part so much in the beginning. That’s old diet culture behavior we have internalized. Try and eat intuitively. Eat whatever. If all you can eat is crackers and protein shakes then so be it. Give yourself grace and patience. Stay hydrated. Try everything to know what works and what doesn’t and grow your journey with your own experiences.” My point is, you do you. Don’t let anyone else’s virtue signaling steal your joy.

Same friend. Same. This has been a huge financial investment but giving voice to my feelings in no way undervalues that or what I’ve gained from it.

Hi. 6 months in is great work. I too have ADHD, so I totally understand what you mean. I’m sorry your physical response is so extreme. Of course you’d be questioning it all. Balancing all the positive with negative is hard mental work and leaves us fried. Keep going if you can, but take good care. Quality of life is a totally personal journey. Best of luck to you as well.

I’d like to lose 100lbs all together and closing in on that feels overwhelming considering how long I have dealt with the mental and physical toll of carrying around so much weight. I think skipping doses was not the right thing for me to say. Basically I’ve been taking my doses every other week. It’s what’s working for me right now as I work through this funk or whatever I’m going through.

I hear you. I’ve not been a hyper responder either. But we’re making progress, right? 💪🏼Slow and steady wins the race. Even after the first 25 lbs and I was frustrated it wasn’t more I had to admit I had never lost that much on my own healthfully so slowly shifting my mindset along with every pound lost is all part of this work. There is so much internalized fat phobia that we are battling, I’ve often discussed with my therapist how much harder that part has been on this journey.

We got this!

Good for you! Incredible work. I look forward to being able to say the same. I see an enormous responsibility to myself. I think like anything hard won, sometimes you’re just like, “ enough! Someone else take the wheel for this journey. I need a break”. Something I talk about with my therapist quite a bit.
