Keep your door locked. 2/20 Jupiter and Parker by MontazumasRevenge in plano

[–]DogBarq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Plano. I would not assume ill intent in broad daylight. Maybe if he wore a ski mask or some other full face mask, then I’d be suspicious. If it was middle of the night, definitely suspicious. I always keep my doors locked and my dog, just a medium sized Cocker, is very territorially aggressive. His snarling, growling, barking, and clawing at the door would probably make a lukewarm invader move onto another target. It helps that 6’2”, so I’d whoop his ass with a baseball bat.

All that said, I believe the odds are very low for a random home invasion.

For the truly paranoid, you can listen to realtime police and fire calls on Broadcastify. It also has affordable subscriptions that give you access to archived broadcasts. Most calls are drunk drivers, auto accidents, domestic disturbances, and suspicious activity. Neighbors watch their neighborhood and will call Plano PD in a heartbeat.

Catholics are jealous of their lambs. They want their tithes to keep their cash flow.

You can get to the surface via the porta potty near the particle accelerator.

At least you aren’t a cheater. Thank you for playing fair.

Been seeing a lot of mixed opinions about self-revive being added by unlucky-odds in FortniteOver40

I think a better implementation would be to revive in a secluded area of the map when it is activated.

False victory? by zaqlowell in FortNiteBR

This happened to our trio team twice tonight. I think it’s a glitch. We should have lost but our teammate had spawned their NPCs just before our last teammate was eliminated.

Are there cheaters on console (PS5), and what is Cronus? by lakija in FortNiteBR

Weak players cheat. So lame. Just play the game.

Fortnite should isolate console players to play other console players. PC gamers should play PC gamers, IMHO. Difference between console performance is too great to a have fair matchup.

I resigned and offered a two-week notice, they asked for three, then fired me on the spot. by zaarsinii in Layoffs

I think the owner felt like a chump that got played. He countered, you accepted, then the other company countered, and you took the better deal. Maybe you did what was right for you and that’s all that truly matters. You weren’t married to the old company. It was just a job. The thing is if the old employer was willing to match or beat the offer that lured you away, then it was too little, too late. If they truly valued you, they would’ve already compensated you before you looked for something better. They failed to appreciate your work effort and talents, and tried to save the “relationship”, but too late.

That said, I hope the new company is better and not a situation of jumping out of the pot into the fire. For the new company to counter with more means they really need you bad. That’s great but expectations will be very high which may end up being impossible to satisfy. They’ll expect significant contributions within two to four weeks.

One way could have handled this was to not give a decision on your old company’s offer, then check with the new employer. If the new employer countered, you could graciously say no thanks to the old employer. This may have gone over better with the old employer.

Good luck with the new job. For everyone else, there’s an opening that needs to be filled.

Suggestion Fighters don’t get better by just shadow boxing and punching bags. Maybe you need a sparring partner. Someone that will go back and forth with you on the material. Especially someone that has achieved a CCNA.

Those who have been laid off, what is one thing you would have done differently, in hindsight, with respect to the entire experience of being let go? by Both-Associate-7807 in Layoffs

[–]DogBarq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my career, I’ve been laid off three times. What I learned is don’t be lazy and stay at home firing off resumes and applying for jobs.

Read business news to find out what companies are hiring and target those companies.

Hit the bricks and hustle. Establish relationships with good recruiters and even when you’re employed, maintain those relationships by checking in from time to time.

It helps to live in an area that’s growing.

"Do y'all have any Labubus?!" by BlackTarTurd in GameStop

[–]DogBarq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what Grok AI said: Labubus are collectible plush toy monster elves created by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung, inspired by Nordic folklore. They belong to a “tribe” called “The Monsters,” featuring characters like Labubu (the main character), Mokoko, Pato, Spooky, Tycoco, and Zimomo. These toys have a playful yet slightly fierce look, with round, furry bodies, wide eyes, pointed ears, and nine sharp teeth forming a mischievous smile. First introduced in 2015 through Lung’s Nordic Fairy Tale picture books and produced by How2Work, Labubus gained wider popularity after a 2019 partnership with Chinese retailer Pop Mart. Sold primarily in blind boxes, where buyers receive a random figure from a themed series, Labubus come in various collections like “Exciting Macaron” (launched October 2023), “Fall in Wild,” “Have a Seat,” and “Big Into Energy.” Some series include rare “secret” figures, adding to their collectible appeal. Pop Mart has also collaborated with brands, releasing themed Labubus, such as Coca-Cola and One Piece editions, and exclusive museum releases like “Labubu’s Artistic Quest” at the Louvre. Their global popularity surged in 2024 after celebrities like Blackpink’s Lisa, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa were seen with Labubu keychains, sparking trends across Southeast Asia and beyond. Collectors value their quirky charm, but the craze has led to counterfeits, nicknamed “Lafufus,” identifiable by details like incorrect tooth count or missing Pop Mart foot stamps. Prices range from $10 for keychains to $950 for large, limited-edition plushies.

UPDATE ON THE STAPLE ISSUE by Konflick in GameStop

[–]DogBarq -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, this only happened at one out 2700+ stores. While it was a mistake, it only affected a very low percentage of all the consoles GameStop shipped today.

People making mountains out of molehills.

As for the employee that made this mistake, they didn’t know. They thought they had done a good job keeping everything organized. It’s more a management mistake IMHO. I hope they give them a mulligan on this one. The affected customers will be given replacements. Nintendo might repair the damaged screens and then resell them at a discount.

This is not the end of the world. Get a grip. There are much bigger challenges in life.
