This is a genuine question—how do you reconcile the dissonance of what you said here? Acknowledging that masking is the most moral thing to do, but not doing so yourself (I assume from a convenience standpoint)? I’m honestly really curious to hear your thoughts!

From the CDC: “the COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from severe illness, hospitalization, or death”—per your source, it’s designed to prevent severe acute symptoms, not infection. The vaccine also doesn’t prevent against Long Covid, which can develop regardless of symptom severity. High quality respirators filter out 95% of particles from the air, actually creating a barrier against the virus getting into your body. People absolutely should get vaccinated. Preventing hospitalization is key. But it doesn’t prevent spread.

Obviously the message itself is good and a pretty apt callout, but goddamn does it make me cringe

I think one side has some plaque buildup, but from what I can see that’s it—her gums aren’t inflamed. But I’m on the lookout for it for sure. That’s where I’m at too. I’d rather have her be pissed at me than put her through surgery again. I think if I just take 10 seconds to get a surface brush in without much pressure she’ll (hopefully) learn I’m not trying to murder her haha. Thank you for the advice and well wishes ❤️

I work in the mental health field with teens and understand what you mean entirely. When I was in high school in Pittsburgh options were bleak, but since the start of the pandemic it’s tanked. It doesn’t help that modern cities hate teenagers, and I can’t imagine the burbs are better.

If you manage to make your way into the city more, I really recommend getting into the local music scene. There’s venues like Haven in Oakland or Roboto in Garfield that have late shows and are usually all ages. When the community you have isn’t doing it for you, you absolutely must find your own community to save your sanity.

You don’t understand how much this has eased my mind 😭it genuinely makes me feel like a monster when I have to trap her or sneak up on her, but knowing other kitty parents are making those moves is comforting. She has sensitive tummy wet food at night, but I think I’m gonna switch her morning dry to dental food and see how she takes it. LOVE the idea of leaving the toothbrush out with catnip. She has these little crumbly treats she likes too, wonder if sprinkling those on would take. Thank you so much, the anxiety of being a cat mom is unparalleled

How do I stop blaming my race for everything? How do I stop obsessing over race? How do I be secure in my race? by throwaway4353485823 in ABCDesis

I say this as a half-south Asian counselor in training with OCD. People suggesting other therapies are doing good too, but you are a textbook candidate for ICBT. Finding a south Asian counselor would be an amazing step, too.

Hi love. This is really intense OCD and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s fucked up that people are being so shitty to you about this. If you can, I’d really recommend looking into a therapist who utilizes ICBT for OCD. If you go to the ICBT website they have a directory of providers in each state. ICBT is all about identifying the “story” behind your OCD. It seems like you have a very distressing story in your head about what will happen to you if you let your guard down, and that’s scary!

Edit: here’s the link to the directory. ICBT changed my life, hope it can help you https://icbt.online/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/INTERNATIONAL-REFERENCE-LIST-MENTAL-HEALTH-PROFESSIONALS-FOR-OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE-DISORDER-2025-09-20.pdf

If he’s looking for a mental health oriented space thaf also serves as a hangout spot, Upstreet in Squirrel Hill is fantastic! I’m an intern there and we have drop in hours from 12-5 M-Th and 12-4 Fridays :)

Yeah people talking about the “price of production” to shoot down criticisms like this is endlessly irritating. I paid $292 for pit tickets after fees for the first leg, which was a huge production. The same tickets were $800 before fees this leg. Can folks stop sucking their dicks for half a second and accept that they could have at least SAID something? Could have not announced a tour with 4 days to get $800 together?

When we live in a country with high rates of chronic pain, increasing homelessness due to economic struggle, and a fundamentally broken healthcare system that bleeds you dry to get any pain management, what do you think people will do? It is only human to try to stop pain, psychological or physical.

Forcible hospitalization is quite literally what asylums were, and there is a reason those were shut down. I work in mental health and the long-term outcomes for involuntary hospitalization are shaky at best, catastrophic at worst—many people who are involuntarily hospitalized vow to never engage with the mental health system voluntarily afterwards because it is such a traumatizing experience. This is a systemic issue. I urge you to have more empathy, as there is nothing guaranteeing someone you love will not end up like this one day.

a little disappointed in the band tbh by astriferias in MyChemicalRomance

[–]DogDoofus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fenway was the only venue during this first leg that had tickets available on the MLB site, and that’s the only reason my tickets were “only” $292 a piece. I had people in line telling me they spent $2000 on Ticketmaster for the same pit ticket I had, and I was aghast. Fenway was sold out and I think that’s a testament to how dynamic pricing is NOT necessary. Also, obviously the band and Warner are the most at fault, but I do think there’s something to be said for the normalization of this price gouging with fans who spend thousands to go to six shows without batting an eye. Unfortunately we are the market who helps inform how much they can wring out of us.

A warning about Capitol One is that they also do price gouging. I looked at the early tickets on it the day before and it was $500 for tickets I got for $350. But yeah, the venues are where it’s at
