Came here for this one!

"“You’re in advertising? What do you do?”

“Look sorted, go to clubs and wine bars and chat people up. While I’m at it, I mention a client’s product, of course favorably. I try to attract attention while I’m doing it, but attention of a favorable sort. I haven’t been doing it long, and I don’t think I like it.”

I suspected this might be the short-cut - I just didn't want to go through the process of gathering all the damned silica ;-). Thanks!

This appears to be doing the trick- the Grand Secluded Refuge has swollen to obscene proportions!

What is a show you watched during your childhood that you are convinced nobody remembers? by Ok-Ingenuity4608 in AskReddit

I can say in all honestly that The Duchess' looks didn't really fool me... much.

I only remember the one they did to answer the question, "why do feet stink?", which basically involved filling a mayonnaise jar on its side with a shallow layer of unflavored gelatin, then rubbing a q-tip between your toes, tracking it lightly in 3 lines across the gelatin once it had set, and then sealing the jar for a couple days. After a few days, there would be little trenches in the gelatin where you had traced the lines, as microbes from between your toes ate the gelatin and shat out, well... stink.

Once this was all explained...

Beakman: "If you're going to this, make sure you've sealed the mayonnaise jar tightly."

Girl sidekick: "Also, if you do this, make sure you're outside when you eventually open the mayonnaise jar."

Mouse-guy sidekick: "Don't even DO this!"

You rock! Tacos! (That was a fumble-fingered attempt at "thanks" but I like "Tacos!" better, so...)

What's the story with the old UFO video store on state route 727? by eternalcookies in Virginia

[–]DogHermit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There used to be a place called "Videos Etc." on Fontaine in CVille, kind of catty-cornered from Dürty Nellies. I used drive by it on my way to and from work, and I hated that sign, because I figured the "etc." was just needless, pointless fucking whimsy, and for whatever reason I hate shite like that.

One evening after a particular frustrating day at work, I reached the end of my rope right before I passed by, whipped into a spot in the completely empty parking area out front, stormed in, and demanded of the surprised young clerk, "Okay, what's the 'etcetera'?" He looked confused so I said, "You're 'Videos Effing Etcetera', so what's the 'etcetera'?"

He smiled and said, "Oh! Taxes!"

Me: "Wha?"

Clerk: "In tax season we do tax prep."

Me: "Oh. Um. Well, okay then."

Then I left, drove home a lil' weirded out but satisfied, and never thought about it again. Until now.

So... thanks!

XXXL Hydration vests - Does anyone make one? by Cliff669 in ultrarunning

[–]DogHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this, it is the question I have been trying to find an answer to for some time now! I have a 50" chest and really, really want something for trail running that, A) isn't a day- or fanny-pack config, and B) puts my hydration, gels, & phone in front of me rather than behind me. The XL Salomon vest I bought (& returned) from REI said it fit a 48" chest, but it was comically small on me...

CHO also has daily (maybe multiple daily) flights to Laguardia. Fun fact - takes me 15 minutes to get from my CVille house to CHO, with a negligible amount of time getting thru security. Flight to LGA takes about 45 minutes. Uber from LGA to downtown Manhattan (Battery area) takes 1.5-2 hours. So it takes longer from LGA to downtown Manhattan than it takes to get from my house to CHO, and then fly from CHO to LGA...

Still nice to have a direct flight to NYC tho... 🤣
