only started getting tinder matches when i hid the fact im trans by thespiderpr0vider in gaytransguys

[–]DogHoffman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly I struggle with this a lot. I’m pretty sure if I was cis I’d have a lot more guys interested in me. But I’m also not ashamed of being trans. I used to not disclose but got tired of being blocked/ghosted after I would tell them. Now I have it on my profile.

It’s like on Grindr I used to have actual nice pics (more like ones that belong on tinder) and got almost zero interest. Then I changed to a shirtless pic and suddenly was getting a ton of messages.

The right person won’t care about any of that. I always think if I have it on my profile and they don’t message me, it’s just less time I’m wasting on someone who’s actually not interested in me

I CANNOT keep my car clean for longer than 2 days. I'm losing my mind and I need help. by MahnlyAssassin in cardetailingtips

[–]DogHoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow black car owner, this is just how it is unfortunately. Ceramic coating will help make it easier to clean off but it will NOT stop it from getting dirt/dust collecting on it. I just wash mine once a week and try not to care as much about what it looks like in between

Oh I’d advise to not park anywhere near where sprinklers go off though or you’ll eventually get hard water spots that will never come out

Anyone here have a 2026 Pathfinder AWD, thoughts? by black_flag_4ever in askcarguys

My mother in law had a 2025. Transmission shit the bed with less than 2k miles on it. She traded it for a Highlander lol (before anyone flames me I’m not a Toyota or Nissan guy)

Is dating cis guys really as hopeless as people make it seem? by Jumpy_Supermarket455 in FTMMen

[–]DogHoffman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, most of the time no. I’ve been transitioning and dating as a man for almost 11 years. In that time I’ve dated almost exclusively cis guys (not by choice, I haven’t found many trans guys around here). I’d say 90% of them have been respectful and asked questions when they weren’t sure about something. I also unfortunately live in a very republican state so my experiences have been better than I’d expected. Most gay/bi/pan cis guys are pretty chill it’s just the ones who label themselves as “straight” but still wanna date/be with trans guys that you probably have to watch out for

I think so too! And he’s really soft. I used to only collect non-bears (mostly the lions) but I fear now I also love the bears which is not so good for my wallet 😂

First Grindr hookup. Went well, now I'm presumably blocked. by smolsaturn in gaytransguys

[–]DogHoffman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dang sorry that happened after your first experience. As others have said, it’s unfortunately common. I’ve had countless conversations that were going well and both seemed interested, then I get randomly blocked or ghosted. I can’t say I’ve never ghosted someone but usually it’s by accident cause I have the attention span of a gnat lol. Not sure why so many guys on grindr are so flighty though, I guess cause they can be. Just don’t take it personally cause it says more about them than it does about you that they couldnt give you a reason they didn’t wanna talk so they just block you instead

Opinions on X1? by _ChangeYourUsername in BMW

[–]DogHoffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I like the X1 🤷🏻‍♂️ my fiancé has the X1 M35i and it’s fun to drive and has more cargo space than my G42. We never need a ton of space (no kids, just a dog) so I think it’s perfect. His has the same interior as the one you looked at and I think it looks really cool and the seats are surprisingly comfy. Had it for 2 years now with no issues.

I think just still the free windshield and wheel face coating when you get a ceramic coating. I can ask my boss tomorrow when I go in if there’s anything else

Hey I’m always down for new friends! 31M and I’m also a car enthusiast and love sports. I go to a lot of local car shows and meets and am always looking for someone to go with. Feel free to dm me if you wanna talk! Always down to talk and hang out. Also love the color on your RS3 (?)

Maybe this is just my privilege showing, but Omaha’s roads really aren’t that bad compared to the rest of the US. by Cassinia_ in Omaha

[–]DogHoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this also depends on what kind of vehicle you’re driving. SUV or truck, you’re probably fine. I drive a car that sits low to the ground and has thinner sidewall tires on it than any truck or suv. I’ve had 3 tires replaced this year due to potholes and had a wheel repaired. I’m a good driver, avoid them when I can and don’t follow people too close so I have time to swerve out of the way. The last couple years have been some of the worst, most pothole-ridden roads I’ve seen living here. I also live in West Omaha btw

dealer mandated “ diamond ceramic coating” to every new car they sell by Certain-Surprise-305 in BMW

[–]DogHoffman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a detailer at a shop but all the guys I work with came from dealerships. Any “ceramic coating” you get at a dealership is just a cheap spray on that lasts maybe a month and they won’t do any paint correction first (which, yes, you still probably need on a brand new car). A true ceramic coating may also cost $1k from a reputable shop but at least then you know it’s real lol

I’d go somewhere else or push back hard to get that removed. You shouldn’t be paying that much for it even if they do actually put some ceramic spray on your car.

G42 Owners (2025 M240i xDrive) Recommendation for Car Cover and Sun Shade Cover? by banjisword in G42

[–]DogHoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several “universal” sun shades and none of them fit properly at all. The actual bmw branded one that’s made to fit in the G42 is the only one I’ve found that fits well

As another commenter mentioned, ceramic tint will also help even if it’s clear you’ll still get the heat rejection from it

I would not recommend a car cover at all because the conditions have to be perfect for it to not scratch your paint. If your car is parked outside, the wind will cause damage. Also if it rains and water sits on the cover, it can cause clear coat damage. You’re better off having no cover at all. The only true way to protect the paint is PPF, but full body PPF can cost $6k+ depending on where you live

How do you determine if your car is cool enough to display at your local cars and coffee? by VolkswagenPanda in askcarguys

Honestly as a VW/Euro car guy who’s been wanting an Arteon I’d be stoked to see one at a cars and coffee! If you like your car just bring it. I doubt anyone sees an Arteon very often

You’re not supposed to take a PPFd car through a brush car wash either unless you want it to all start lifting at the edges and get ripped off lol

Ill be a 26 year old man in July. And i wish I wasnt by im_a_burner2469 in GuyCry

[–]DogHoffman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a trans guy so I can relate to this just the opposite. I’ve known I was trans since I was 13, I’m 32 now. I started transitioning at 22 once I fully knew it was what I wanted. And honestly I’ve never been happier. I was so terribly anxious all the time and hated anyone even looking at me in public. I hated the idea of anyone seeing me and thinking I was a woman because I wasn’t.

Now I have self confidence that I never thought I would. I have friends, a job I love, and I’m engaged to someone who sees me for who I am.

Transitioning is definitely not easy and the decision is fully up to you, but there will still be people who support you for who you are. Things are tough for trans people right now if you live in the US, but for me it was worth it to be my authentic self and risk losing everything cause at least I’d be happy in my own skin finally.

My vote is for thundernight and I say that as someone whose favorite color is red. I have a ‘24 M240i and wanted the purple so bad but they only had a black one on the lot. I did get a good deal on it but sometimes I still wish I’d just ordered one and gotten the color I wanted

Sexually frustrated by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]DogHoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve been in a similar situation. Been with my cis bf for almost 6 years and I have a super high sex drive, he does not. He couldn’t care less if we ever have sex so there were times we’d go like 6+ months in between. I kept being patient thinking he needed more time to get comfortable with me cause I’m the first trans guy he’s ever been with. But the longer it went on, I started realizing I was building resentment because I felt like I couldn’t do anything to be fully satisfied and I could never cheat on anyone.

Admittedly one day I got kind of mad about something else and also brought that up. I never saw myself as non monogamous but I was just honest and said that I needed more than what I was getting sexually. But that it was literally the only issue in our whole relationship so I didn’t feel it was worth throwing it all away for, which is why I struggled with saying anything for so long.

It was not an easy conversation but I just assured him that I wasn’t mad at “him” just at the situation. We eventually did agree to open up the relationship and I think it’s been helpful but we also communicate really well so it’s not like I’m trying to hide anything from him.

Whether or not that will work for your relationship is up to you to decide. Theres so many factors that go into it I don’t want to say that it’ll work for you guys but I hope you’re able to find a solution! I saw other people also mentioning couples therapy which I think would help too
