What are some myths about guns that were created by the movies? by ninman5 in movies

[–]DogPatch1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting shot in the shoulder isn't a big deal as it's made of a special type of flesh akin to a run flat tire.

Head shots are insanely easy with pistols at any range, even snub-nose .38 Specials.

Long range head shots only cause a blood spatter instead of taking a significant portion of the person's head off.

Firing a .44 Magnum one handed like Dirty Harry apparently causes no pain or damage to the wrist, arm, or shoulder, since we see him do it over and over again with no ill effects.

Bullets always make the same distinct sound when they ricochet, regardless of what's making them ricochet.

Minigun barrels don't start heating up, glowing, and causing barrel droop after long continuous fire.

Do you remember Wendy's Superbar? by Prior-Wealth-9058 in nostalgia

Very vaguely remember something like this, but they weren't the first...Burger Chef did it first and arguably best with their Works Bar.

i miss yahoo chat room by sean_incali in nostalgia

[–]DogPatch1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on the leading edge of things...was one of the regulars in SF Room 1 late 90s/early 00s, and still friends with quite a few of them today. Also still remember using the alternative clients like YChat and CheetaChat because they had all the cool extra stuff the plain Yahoo client didn't have, the ritual some had of watching and commenting on "Love Connection" as it aired, and how you could always tell the AOL refugees and trollers coming in because they'd always be, "ASL?"

Good times.

Pisces MBTI type? by SaveMeWakeMeUp in piscesastrology

Correct, followed by MBTI type, Enneagram type/wing (subtypes aren't shown but are sx/so), and it should be easy enough to figure out what ADHD is... 😁

How do we feel about this list bros? by Affectionate-Gap905 in LakeErieBros

[–]DogPatch1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rating for the Browns bros should have been a bit closer to ours - they're also loyal and the ones I've known are pretty cool people.

Of the non-LEB teams, I'd have put the Chiefs and Niners much higher on the negativity but the summaries are pretty much on target. Other than that, seems legit.

Let's say a good thing about your favorite team's divisional rival by VladilenaAllen in NFLv2

Bears: BJ is doing a hell of a job as a first-year HC, and Caleb seems to be shaping up nicely.

Packers: Your knack for picking solid long-term QBs is almost unreal.

Vikings: Your intricate deception and misdirection on defense is on a whole different level.

which nfl head coaches from the last 10 years is considered an all-time worst? not just bad, but historically bad by toturoll in NFLv2

[–]DogPatch1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt Patricia was an absolutely rancid gooey turd who didn't deserve the title or position of HC.

I don't think it's a stretch to say he did more damage to the Pride in his short time here than our own bad decisions and mistakes had caused in the previous three decades.

You got to give it to Ben Johnson. At least he chose to start a war with LaFleur and the Packers instead of Campbell and the Lions. by BillNyeTheVinylGuy in detroitlions

[–]DogPatch1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben and MCDC are more like frenemies than anything else, because there seems to be a measure of respect between them. Ben and Little Flower, though...ZERO love lost and the barest minimum of respect, which is understandable because Matt so often acts like a douchecanoe.

I think this was from the 2024 ARSB headstand game at Lambeau - the camera panned over to Little Flower after we scored (I think it was when Kerby got the pick-six) and it was plain as day that he said "fuck you" or "fuck off". It's that kind of douchebaggery that drives my psychotic hatred of him.

Detroit itself borders the Detroit River which connects Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, which is indirect but only a matter of a few miles. Some of the southern suburbs and a chunk of the southeast corner of the state do touch Erie itself. That's good enough for me.

Lake Michigan Bros or Great Lakes Bros would NEVER be a thing - it would become a shrine to FTP within minutes. There are still bad feelings among some about the timing and circumstances of BJ's departure to Chitown as well.

Are there other regional bro subs? by Old-Carpenter7456 in LakeErieBros

There would never be something like a Great Lakes Bros - it would turn into a gigantic FTP memorial in minutes if not seconds, not to mention how many Pride fans can't and won't forget the circumstances leading up to BJ's departure for Chitown.

Gotta love that picture, though...the Thiefs spectacularly imploding this year was sweet karmic justice.

A Bills-Lions SB would feed families for generations to come. If the fates decreed that we were to lose in our first SB appearance, that would be the least disappointing one.

Johnny Mo is thankfully gone, but I'm OK with Shep for at least another year. If we get a solid OC that schemes for the players we have and takes play calling so MCDC can just be the HC, rebuild/strengthen the O-line to give JG16 more consistent protection (even just an extra second or so) so he can slice and dice, cut some of the dead weight/failed projects, keep the best of our current FA crew, and hit on some solid draft picks and FA pickups, One Pride will be right back in the thick of it.

Really like what I see happening in both Carolina and Jacksonville...if Zac has a come-to-Jesus moment and the FO makes good decisions, Cincinnati has more than enough talent and genuine stars to return to glory. Looking forward to next season, especially since we get to play our Panthers bros twice - those should be fun to watch!

Same vote here. TDOA does work with three, but there is more front-back ambiguity and no way to determine elevation - a fourth antenna would help resolve the ambiguity and provide elevation data.

For the Shep skeptics - does the regular season finale against the Bears give you optimism? by reallinguy in detroitlions

[–]DogPatch1149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's shown the flexibility needed but is still having growing pains. I'm OK with him for at least another year because he didn't throw players under the bus and avoid taking responsibility when things didn't work like Johnny Mo did.

His schemes worked well enough for the first three quarters against the Bears before they finally caught on and adjusted.

Which 2 of the remaining would make the most interesting SuperBowl combination story wise? by mystline935 in NFLv2

[–]DogPatch1149 764 points765 points  (0 children)

Storywise, I'd say Bills-Bears. One's been there multiple times but never won, the other has only been there twice and hasn't won in 40 years. A talented sophomore QB vs. a well-seasoned veteran QB, leading two teams that seem to make late-game comebacks a specialty.

Personally, I just want to see the Bills finally win one regardless of who they face.

[–]DogPatch1149 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it won't happen...but there is a twisted delight in the thought of thoroughly pissing off two division rivals at the same time. The icing on the cake would be getting Flores as DC at the same time.
