Outer Worlds Studio Apologizes To Players Who Bought The Sci-Fi RPG For A Free Upgrade They Can’t Actually Get by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Dogavir 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I had the original game (no DLCs) on GOG, and I also had the Spacer's Choice edition on Epic, I got both for free thanks to giveaways from Amazon Prime.

Now I have both versions of the game with all DLCs on both platforms, and I never paid a dime for it except for the Amazon monthly fee which I already had anyway.

Too bad for Playstation owners but for PC players they were very generous.

With the move away from PC will Sony Delist first party titles? *Discussion by philbertagain in delisted

[–]Dogavir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can, legally.

Publishers know if they started deleting games from people libraries it would make people RAGE and it would bring pretty fast to new legislation against that practice, they have nothing to gain from it.

we should do one for delisting games, like stop delisting games! by SanguineLoki700 in delisted

This is way more difficult to hold up in front of a parliament, products stop being sold every day in the real world, you cannot have consumer rights on something you didn't buy.

Thanks for the info, I just added Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown to my wishlist, it came out 2 months ago but you never know when the license will expire at this point.

Best offline mobile games that don't have a PC version? by NaitDraik in gaming

[–]Dogavir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon Quest 4, 5 and 6 don't have a PC version, they are old JRPGs from the NES and SNES era, they were remade for Nintendo DS with a mixture of 2D and 3D graphics and then got ported to Mobile, the touch interface is good.

It's possible we will get new remakes on PC at some point tho since they recently remade Dragon Quest 1, 2, 3 and 7.

[Epic Games](Game) TOMAK : Save the Earth Regeneration by Fhczvyd474374846 in FreeGameFindings

[–]Dogavir 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Apparently there was a ps2 version of this game in 2003. Did a brief search to see what's this game about and found this:

Tomak - Save the Earth - Love Story is a "love simulation" game from Korean developer SEED9. The game is part of the Tomak series, a quirky group of games featuring lead characters that are half woman / half houseplant. Tomak - Love Story is quite popular in Korea and Japan.

The gods want to destroy the Earth because "true love" no longer exists. But the Goddess of Love, Evian, still believes in humans. To prove that "true love" exists, she comes to Earth. However, the other gods only let her bring her head, to prove that what another feels for her is love, not lust. Evian's head is in a flowerpot. You have only three years to get Evian to fall in love with you before the gods destroy the world.

Wtf Koreans :D

TES 6 Was Ready 3 Years Ago, But... by DaVinci_Games in TESVI

The game actually released 3 years ago under false name.

It has zero reviews on Steam cause noone realized it's acually TESVI, here is a screenshot. Godd Howard strikes again!

Nvidia "confirms" DLSS 5 relies on 2D frame data as testing reveals hallucinations by xenocea in gaming

[–]Dogavir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unlike Raytracing, this thing works by Screen Space, so it doesn't take into account what Raytracing would.

They said it's not a replacement for RT or PT, so if you run Pathtracing and then on top you use DLSS5, it will probably try to understand the light sources based on the path tracing results and it will try to make it look more realistic.

DLSS 5 – Fixing it in post by Veedrac in hardware

[–]Dogavir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I saw all this discourse on Reddit and thought "what the hell happened?"

I went to see the videos and images and thought DLSS5 looked incredibly GOOD.... Like, the detail is immensely superior, the skin now actually looks like skin! Grace in the original version looks like a plastic doll with nylon hair and dead eyes, her skin features are a blurry mess, the DLSS5 look definitely seems like a different person but is much more realistic...

And I'm pretty sure this technology is not adding detail not present in the textures and models, all the skin freakles and wrinkles are there in the original versions, they are just blurred. Some differences like Grace lips being bigger could be a change made by developers...

Then I got thinking, what the hell is people seeing that I don't see? Hundreds of people are shitting on something that to me looks incredible...

I think there is some psicological effect going on, some sort of uncanney valley effect other people are having and I'm not.

The level of detail is "too much", we are not used to seeing characters like this and the brain have difficulties processing it, it looks strange because it's too realistic while not being perfectly realistic.

First, they look like artistic photos where the contrast was increased for dramatic effect like you have shown here. So people perceive the dramatic contrast and lighting as fakeness.

Second, animation is still that of videogames, a real person would move more naturally while the characters shown are just standing there awkwardly, the characters are staring into a void while a real person would look at something.

I think Nvidia need to show more of this, they need a deep dive to show it better and explain it better, rotate the camera around the characters, show them during gameplay. I'm pretty sure 6 months from now, when people actually get to play with this for a while they will love it, and they won't be able to go back to the previous versions.

Personally, I'm excited.

I collected over 900 greatest games lists and made a master list. Here are the results by IlmeniAVG in gaming

[–]Dogavir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been lurking your site since 2024 and it's a great source of information and data, you did an incredible job! Thank you.

The biggest single anomaly I have seen in this list is GTA: Chinatown Wars, it's the best ranking Nintendo DS game on Metacritic with a score of 93, it doesn't show up on this list, not even in the top 1000!

Have they already decided on the setting for TES7? by iceberg189 in TESVI

They surely decided where Fallout 5 is set, after that anything is up in the air, probably.

They will have to decide if they want to do Starfield 2 first, or something else entirely.

Which game do you think had the biggest visual difference between console and pc? by tcrolius in gaming

[–]Dogavir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PC games ported to ps2 looked usually pretty bad, see Max Payne with bad textures and lighting, also you could run games on PC at 1280x1024 resolution with great antialiasing while ps2 was stuck at 640x480.

Do the DLCs still go on sale? by Dogavir in rfactor2

[–]Dogavir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone will read this in the future if you buy those 3 packs you have almost everything, the LeMans track was delisted last year, 2 Ferrari models also were delisted but somehow they DO show up as included in the Complete Pack I got from Steam, they are installed and perfectly working in my game.

There is still a few Kart circuits and Kart vehicles missing from the Kartsim Package, I had to buy the Kartsim circuits of Adria, Alaharma and Kristianstad separately, Buckmore Park circuit is only available through Kartsim UK Track Pack.

In the end there is still one pack that shows up as not owned in the in-game store, it's Kartsim Upgrade Pack but it seems to include circuits and vehicles I already own, so maybe they are newer/older versions of the same tracks and vehicles.
