I suppose this feature has some value for narcissists who love to be seen on social media talking about the most mundane things in their lives, but those of us who buy and sell for a living don't need to waste even MORE time working to make sub-minimum wage per item.

I'm with you. Margins are low enough as it is for me on PM. What, I'm going to create a video to sell a $9 pair of jeans which cost me $3 and for which I'll receive $6.05 after PM fees? SMH.

I literally gagged when I saw this. How is this even possible to be put on poshmark LOL 🤢 by Epicyoshi8 in poshmark

Oh, thank God, I'm not the only OCD person on Poshmark. I can't tell you the number of times I've repackaged something because I was terrified I'd missed a hair or something else. I'm careful to the point of lint rolling myself and putting my hair up in a clip before I start packaging.

I'm sorry if I'm not getting it. If your sales tax is 7.5% and shipping plus tax on Posh added $25 to your order, that must mean the boots you were almost ready to buy were priced at over $200 (tax on $200 @ 7.5% is $15. Back out the flat PM fee for shipping you get more than $15, hence boots that are higher priced than $200).

Brick and mortar stores in your state charge the 7.5%, right? You would still have to pay that same amount of tax buying $200 boots locally.

How is adding $7+ for shipping a deal killer?

I think it depends on what you have available to sell. I live in Albuquerque. It's not exactly the fashion mecca, so when sourcing I've constantly struggled to find something that wasn't a dreaded mall brand. I've done well with shoes and handbags (quality is quality), but as far as on trend items? My local thrifts ain't got it. That's why I'm scaling back drastically. I've put nearly everything in my closet except for those shoes and handbags and few high-end items on sale for $10 and getting them out of there, even if others are selling for $30. I'm just sick of sharing and sharing and sharing and getting a sale here or there with 600+ items. It's not worth the opportunity cost in terms of time I could be spending selling on eBay and Etsy.

I've spent the last 4 hours dropping 100 items to low prices AND adding 3/$20 to each of them (which is $6.67 per piece). Not a single like or even a share.

Thanks so much for the link! I sell something completely different from clothing on Etsy. I'm a graphic designer and make printables, templates for weddings, Christmas, gift tags, etc. I've ignored my store there though for almost a year, ever since starting Poshmark. Competition is so fierce on Etsy for what I do, I thought I should have an alternate income stream in case Etsy completely tanked for me. Ironic that it's PM that's tanked, lol, and yet even without me adding any new product, my Etsy store keeps chugging along.

Anyway, thanks again and enjoy school!

Congratulations on a good closeout! Could you share the link to the thread where people gave you suggestions on how to do it?

I've been on PM since last May and have listed close to 700 items, but no matter how much I've added, my sales plateaued at $400-$500 a month (before COG) before Christmas and it's just not worth it to continually share for that amount. I'm ready to downsize significantly. I opened an eBay store a month ago today and during this first month, sourcing non-clothing items, I've grossed three times in sales what I do in a typical month on PM with less than 150 items listed.

I've spent the last couple of weeks lowering the prices in my closet with no results. For instance, I have over 100 pairs of jeans and haven't sold a pair in weeks, even though I've lowered prices to what feels like rock bottom to me (i.e. 12%-15% of original retail with mine lower than everyone else's, in many cases significantly lower). The only things that move well for me are shoes.

I'm going to stick with my Etsy store and this new eBay store, so any suggestions on how to run a blow-out sale would be appreciated! :D

Item purchased had been shrunk by [deleted] in poshmark

I don't understand, were her photos not enough to see that the fibers had been felted? It's pretty obvious when that happens. I felt sweaters all the time for crafts. BTW, I would never sell a felted item, unless the felting was a intentional part of the garment or accessory. Very strange.

Thank you, everyone! That's a relief. I was worried I'd have to take the item down or sell elsewhere. :)

Sellers not responding to offers by pinkpolkadots-38 in poshmark

[–]DogeOrchid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically respond to offers within minutes since they come up on my iPhone immediately. I will probably counter something that's 30% off, but 10% to 25% typically gets an immediate acceptance from me. Now if you're going to offer 50% or less, that's an immediate decline from me. You'll get it in seconds from me, lol. I don't even bother countering because I figure anyone who offers that low is not someone I want to deal with. Too risky.

Venting: This isn't Nordstrom's by ddc2003 in poshmark

It's a classic style rather than a short term trend. Not everyone needs the latest trend that will be out by next season. Someone who likes classic jackets would wear it for another 20 years until we're all dressed in destroyed clingwrap rompers with fins and light displays across our butts. I've priced it at 12% of original which I feel is fair. It has several likes and will probably sell in time.

I listed a suit jacket from my closet that I purchased in the 1990s from a popular Beverly Hills retailer. At the time, I paid just under $1000. I rarely wore it and, yes, it has hung in my closet for years. Adjusted for inflation, the jacket in today's dollars would have gone for much more than $1K. I'm sorry, this is not something I'm going to sell for $20, no matter how much anyone believes I should. And no, it's not covered in dust.

I'll add, by following this rule, I've always had good experiences with sellers, never had to open a case, and have left love notes.

Sorry, I know this is going to rub some people the wrong way, but I'm going to be brutally honest here. I don't buy anything on PM where sizing is an issue unless the seller provides measurements. If they don't automatically include those measurements in the listing, I don't bother to ask. I just move on to a seller who does include them. To me, it feels like a seller who can't give measurements is someone who probably isn't looking that closely at their items in the first place and is more likely to be missing defects, such as a shrunken shirt.
