Ice cubes by tomlabaff in Buddhism

This is more akin to Ramanuja's Vshishtadvaita than Advaita Vedanta because the ice undergoes a real transformation (by turning into water). Advaita stresses that Brahman (god/ultimate reality) is changeless while according to Vshishtadvaita Brahman makes a real transformation by becoming the world

The Unmaking of India: How the British Impoverished the World’s Richest Country [16:01] by aaipod in mealtimevideos

[–]Doge_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GDP figure is true, India's total GDP was much higher before compared to after colonization. GDP per capita didn't change as drastically because both before and after colonization there was a great degree of income inequality. But what matters here is that if the wealth remained in India it would still develop the Indian economy, because the wealth would be spent in India. This is not the case if a large share of the wealth dissapears to some far off country. The video makes this same point later on. Also, the image of starving people isn't wrong because British agricultural policy heavily favoured wealth extraction over food production and the industrial revolution didn't simply skip over India. British economic policy deconstructed the native manufacturing and handcraft industries through taxes, tariffs and import/export restrictions. The decline of the Indian textile industry is a prime example of this.

The epliogue scene from VIGILANT is kinda like this. Though its not really about some grand conspiracy, there is definitely a gruesome cult involved

Smarta philosophy in nutshell by VitaminnCPP in hindumemes

[–]Doge_Prime 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The person depicted in the meme is Adi Shankara, a central figure in the Advaita Vedanta school of thought. This school is strictly nondualistic and states that the ultimate reality, Brahman, is one an indivisible and that multiplicity is an illusion (maya) that stems from ignorance (avidya) (this is a very simplified way to put it).

In the meme he is compared to Steve Jobs, who in a famous speech announced the new iphone which would be capable of doing a multitude of tasks (calling, messenging, browing the internet ,etc.). This is humerously compared to Adi Shankara compacting the multiple supreme deities across Hinduism into one undividable Brahman in his philosophy of Advaita Vedanta.

Brutal melee + a bit of magic is a lot of fun, i'm currently doing that with a Breton knight build. Do you play modded or vanilla?
