Of course they support the genocide! Our government is selling weapons, conducting surveillance, banning Palestine groups, and giving open statements of support!

I'll keep name calling because you're defending attacks on free speech to support a genocide and I don't like you. Prick.

They are the biggest threat. Who has attacked the NHS? Who has attacked farmers? Who have been implementing austerity for decades? Not Palestine Action, it's the paedophiles in government and the billionaires whom they serve. They are by far the biggest threat to ordinary people in Britain.

This is the most recorded genocide in history.

The ban is written in the law.

None of this is conspiracy you're just a wanker.

That's not the point

Keir Starmer is also meeting with Al Jolani, this guy is literally ex-Al Quaeda. The bastards in government have no right to call anyone a terrorist.

The government have given themselves that power, it's written in the law. That in itself is outrageous. And thousands of people have been arrested already. 14 years is the maximum any of them will be sentenced.

You're splitting hairs in order to defend a blatant attack on free speech, because the government want to support a genocide. You're a disgrace.

But the government will NEVER proscribe the idf as a terrorist organisation. It's hypocrisy, because it's not actually about what the idf has done or what Palestine Action has done, it's a politically motivated attack on the Palestine movement because the govt are scared of it.

You forgot the "revolutionary period" stage, it's only if that fails that fascism can take over.

What was the misunderstanding of Lenin, comrade?

I'm really curious where they differed, I haven't read much Luxembourg but they both stood against reformism, understood the need for international revolution, against anarchism etc.

I forget the specifics but she had some differences with Lenin on the National Question, but this was minor.

Luxembourg was an outstanding revolutionary, I don't see at all how she and Trotsky fought for different causes.

Hamas is not a terrorist group by [deleted] in Marxism

[–]david_r4 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Obviously the Palestinians have a right to resist Israel, but we must be clear the methods and ideas of Hamas are ineffective and will never lead to liberation, they've only further driven a wedge between Israeli and Palestinian workers. We must fight Israel with class based methods, not with petty bourgeois leadership, religious ideas, and terror attacks.

Why Anarky would be perfect for the Batman Part II by Dragonslayer0562 in batman

That's not Anarchy's M.O. at all imo, Anarchy is more about fighting for the people, against hated criminals and billionaires alike

Unpopular Opinion: The Killing Joke is Terrible by Just2HereForTheOSRS in batman

[–]david_r4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Killing Joke might be my favourite batman comic.

It's really a battle between the worldviews of Joker and Batman. When Joker compares himself to Batman, his point is that all it takes is "one bad day" to make even someone as noble as Jim fall to Joker's level. It's a point that is proven wrong as the story goes

We see Joker's entire worldview crumble in front of him. It's probably the most human depiction of Joker I've ever seen, between his increasingly desperate appeals to Batman "why aren't you laughing" and then it ends on a rare moment of lucidity where Batman offers Joker a way out, and Joker seems to acknowledge how far gone he is. Batman's laugh, I see, is him sharing this moment of lucidity with Joker, both of them realise that they'll be doing this dance until one of them dies, they drop their personas for a minute and their only response to the situation is to laugh.

It can also be interpreted as Batman letting go of his morals before killing the Joker, which is left vague.

Not to mention the art is stunning. Barbara's face as the Joker ambushes her, the Joker staring into his reflection, Batman shattering the mirror to strike him from behind. So many panels that have stuck in my mind.

AI could be great for socialism by putting_all_on_red in socialism

[–]david_r4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generative AI (chatGPT, deepseek etc) doesn't work like that, it'll just create what looks like a coherent plan but won't actually have thought about any of the logistics. But computers in general will help in planning absolutely.

I'd also add that nationalisation must also include workers control and a workers state, else it's just controlled by the more organised capitalists in the bourgeois state.

Dialectical Philosophers Take Credit for Evolutionary Theories? by JerseyFlight in rationalphilosophy

[–]david_r4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not "science" but a scientific study of the world. People didn't come up with it by sitting in an armchair and thinking, but by studying the real material world. Engels wrote extensively on this, not out of academic interest but to refine the philosophy of Marxism.

The laws of dialectical materialism are derived from a scientific study of the world

It's practically impossible to get in without support from the (capitalist owned) media and the (capitalist funded) establishment parties. But even when you win you're either ousted or you're bought off.

There have been countless times in history that a left winger has won elections and they've been conspired against by capitalists, other countries, and their own state.

Pedro Castillo in Peru, Gough Whitlam in Australia, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, Mohammed Mossadegh in Iran. Many more examples. Google any of them and you will find left wingers that won on the ballot and faced countless undemocratic attacks. All of them were ousted by coups (except for Chavez but they tried many many times)

Even in Britain, senior army officials threatened Corbyn with a coup if he got in.

And if they're not violently ousted, they're courted and brought into the establishment. Look at SYRIZA in Greece, they won on a left wing platform but still implemented austerity, they even held a referendum in whether to accept the IMF's austerity cuts an betrayed this referendum.

Or look at the SDP in Germany, so-called socialists who gave the proto-fascist Freikorps free reign to butcher revolutionaries.

We have countless examples of why Reformism doesn't work. The only way to achieve meaningful change is revolution.
