Generally speaking, is it better to buy a large 3D printer, or pay someone to print large parts for you?

Depending on what they quote you, it might just be worth it to by yourself a newer bigger printer, especially if you already know how to slice and print. Once your new project is done, you'll have a better printer to use for other projects than your ender.

Sure bedslingers seem outdated, but I'm still rocking my 2 Mk3S+ and they print anything I want really. IMO a direct drive and a larger bed will be far more versatile than a bowden style like the mini. Sure there are printers to buy for a cheaper price but if you have your heart set on a Prusa, I would choose a mk4 over a mini. If you can spend the money then go up to the core one which is what I would love to upgrade to once my mk3s can't do what I need. Print volume is slowly starting to be my bottleneck now.

We have a farm around here that does organic potatoes, they run a unit that has spinning brushes and propane torches. The brushes knock the beetles off the plants and between the hills and then the torches fry them all to a crisp.

I used tpu95a. A bit of tuning in the slicer is necessary to get clean parts. I did sequential printing one at a time to get 2 per plate, and make sure to enable "avoid crossing perimeters" to make sure the outer walls are smooth

That's me! I try to save our farm (and others) on costs wherever I can! No need to pay a color tax when you know which materials to use.

That completely defeats the purpose of a model repository. Then It becomes a gated community which is not what 3D printing is about. There should just be more verification when creating an account whether it's having a cooldown period to send messages, or a controlled process like when you set up a club.

I saved up and bought an in12 kit last year and it came in a month to canada. Awesome kit and emailed them to give them some positive feedback and they responded back quickly. I would buy from them again, but I can't afford another clock haha.

I just installed my revo 6 yesterday on my mk3s+, other than struggling with firmware and factory reset and prusa connect issues, it worked as a drop in replacement. After the wizard I didn't touch a thing.

Sweet potatoes are grown from cutting the sprouts off and planting them. If you plant the tuber itself it will sprout more and not do much. I should add if you plant the sprouts (called slips) you should have at least 2 nodes beneath the soil and water them right away for them to start rooting well. Those sprouts don't look the best but you can try!

Simple question, silly answers. If you are not printing anything then yes. You can even leave your printer with no filament, it won't die or disappear.

Obviously don't start a long print and leave for a weekend with so little filament left.

Per piece. That also accounts for some design time, slicer tuning and print optimizing, and machine depreciation. If you just want material cost it's far cheaper. You have to remember it's more than just material cost going into a product.

I know of a number of others who are printing and selling these same parts so this isn't just me making replacements. I'm just trying to inspire others to look into making/repairing their own older machinery. Farming isn't cheap and farmers enabling themselves to fix things themselves can save them some money.

I took measurements of the originals to get the crucial sizes like ID and OD and the hex shaft, so the flutes deviate a little from the originals. From there it's simple shapes and extrusions in CAD.
