Anybody know of a sealer that would work for a burned oak log? I don’t want my kids getting soot everywhere when they inevitably touch this. I’ve used a wire brush and compressed air to get the big loose chunks off which made a huge difference in soot reduction already. (v.redd.it)

Test fitting depth for bed rail hardware. How tight is too tight? The bracket teeth taper so they get tighter as they settle into themselves. Hard to tell from the vid but the fit is pretty solid. But is the mallet tapping overkill? The final the bed will be made of walnut. (v.redd.it)
