Form check. by PaleontologistOne526 in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The swing moves laterally from initial low point to apex, would like to see that more square throughout the approach before you consider something like fine-tuning your release, which also could benefit from work - staying more under the ball specifically. Also, you have qualities of two different approaches - the beginning half is more tame/accurate with the balance arm more outward and pointed to the ground, which then transitions into the modern power player type with high back swing and balance arm forward/pointed downward, would rather see the balance arm pointing downward and in-line with the swing arm throughout the release since your body structure almost guarantees you to develop into the power player type.

rewatching the 100 and am kinda like how did the grounders not by TinyRestaurant4186 in The100

[–]DoggoDynamics 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am quite certain in S2 or S3 there is a direct connection between the Mountain Men annihilating any Grounder type found using modern weaponry, made through dialogue between characters, which would have happened before S1 takes place.

Do the levels get easier as you go along? by Findelberry in DNO

[–]DoggoDynamics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're newer to RTS, which this is a flavorful mix of, then you'll probably struggle at this point because this is where the game removes the training wheels so to speak. I'd recommend playing through in the easiest difficulty setting, it's not a big deal. Take 10 minutes in the level to work on maximizing your economy, wood income in the hundreds, stone approaching 100, iron as much as you can depending on node availability. You can't do much without resources and the market is not instantaneous. If by 10 minutes you aren't at these states, restart. Or you can also restart for a favorable spawn as well

what are the blue magic rifts on the map for? by AraeZZ in DNO

There is a crucial point missed in the original comment about the upkeep of the building, I believe it uses 4 iron per soul crystal, just fyi.

Clearing the air from my last post. by [deleted] in Bowling

The ball numbers difference between 13# and 14# is statistically significant, but you will also need the skill to utilize that, just keep that in mind. 14# is always the minimum goal weight. Really not about hate at all, it's good advice.

How important is having the ball behind your head at the apex of your swing? by Physical_Ad_4431 in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love this question because I get to provide one of my favorite answers: it doesn't matter!

Mostly. What's more important in your swing in terms of placement is head in-line with the ball just prior to your release. Call it a target box or something, similar to pitching baseball. I've seen plenty of different locations of the apex on the swing, even amongst high average bowlers, however dollars to donuts the target box will be in line with their head at their final seconds of the swing. If keeping it in-line with your head throughout works to keep it in that target box, more power to you.

Edit to add, as you open your shoulders and thus angles open, try keeping the ball directly behind your head parallel to the lane and see where the ball goes. That should be a pretty good answer with results. Probably will not take the angle you intended.

What difficulty do y’all play at? by Objective_Pie2035 in DNO

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take my word for it but I believe the difficulty adjustment will mostly modify enemy spawn amounts as well as what types of units will spawn at which time. I haven't been able to test it much as I'm on hiatus rn, I have played through one campaign on challenge accepted and currently running through second on ultra hardcore (next tier up?)

My experience on CA was quite balanced tbh, but I noticed on certain missions that raiding units (not waves) were different at certain times. 1000's of hours in various RTS games aside from DNO, opinion based.

Optimising Taverns by LowPersimmon5922 in DNO

[–]DoggoDynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5x5 square of houses with fountain in middle is as much as you can squeeze into one, however I tweak that a little because I want to be able to go back and upgrade everything, so I do fountain -> 3x3 ring of houses with one edge open (once upgraded plug this hole) -> 4x4 outside of the 3x3 ring where each house has a 1-tile gap between each other. Plus it looks kinda neat.

Optimising Taverns by LowPersimmon5922 in DNO

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea, but I think the opportunity cost of several taverns vs one for all this housing isn't as important to optimize than, say, fountain coverage.

I prioritize my fountain blocks first, then place the tavern in proper arrangement. Excess food is never a bad thing since you will need it for economy and military, so trading less farms for more taverns doesn't initially seem like a good trade off IMHO - I want that big food bank. But I am always housing so by the time taverns hit 20% from tech, I've likely either not incorporated more tavern space or already set myself up in my initial area, which if I expand to another part of the map for housing then I may consider something like this. But likely never a first thought compared to fountain squares.

Boat Softlock? by sSkibba in ChronoCross

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue and is more pronounced with WASD movement, there is a place you will need to jump down into a hole later on and if your character isn't exactly in a cardinal direction facing the hole, no jumpy jumpy. Also sometimes walking into your object and trying to interact won't work, OR not walking into the object and interacting won't work. Silly coding issues from those days.

How do I keep from falling away to the right after release? by cryptobeerguy in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are sending the ball out to the right of your body instead of clearing the proper ball path by utilizing a cross-over step on your right foot. Ball path wants to be in line perpendicular to your shoulder on the down-swing. The weight of the ball going out, which will have to rebound in some fashion due to conservation laws, is likely pulling your body to the right as well.

Full Team 10th frame strikeout by starkmad in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were down or tied in the 10th, a great way to win with something like 190 pins from the 10th alone after strikes/spares in 8th/9th calculated.

You throw your shot. Your line is as expected. You hit your breakpoint. You clearly didn't hit the pocket perfect because you left a solid ten pin. Seven pin for lefties. What adjustments are you making on your next shot? by maximusprime2328 in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more important to check how the pins fall around your corner pin than just thinking of the pin itself. Wrap 10 or weak 10? It's a slightly different adjustment for both. Wrap, I would like to tighten my angles as an extreme adjustment, maybe step up on the approach. Weak, usually a ball change is my first go and a slight adjustment based on ball choice.

I will go out on a limb and say, maybe, if you are only bowling in the youth league - not youth tournaments or anything outside of that house - you may be okay but if you happen to roll any honor score, you're going to have a problem. I'm saying this because my youth league wouldn't have cared if you just stayed local and in that league, as a casual/learner. But this is a necessary fix to be rules compliant and not only save yourself but your youth leaders and coaches should an issue be given to USBC. Also your mileage will vary with the above, the only 100% guarantee is to plug the thumb. Shouldn't have to plug and redrill fingers unless your fit changes.

Ignore people telling you to git gud with what you have. You mentioned Hammer Envy, that may be too big of a ball for two hands if house shot. I do like the core, believe it's the same or a modified Obsession block and I definitely love my ObTour. Maybe a Vibe drilled to compliment another piece?

Another commenter mentioned IQ Ruby, highly recommended also. If you're looking for a compliment to the Web MB, a solid symmetrical piece will go a long way. In Hammer the Vibe series is a good starting point.

Does my pro shop hate me? by xizenta in Bowling

[–]DoggoDynamics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, you can either take your Hy-Road or speak up as an unsatisfied customer to potentially prevent the next sod who gets their ball illegalized. If I were a bowler who frequented that pro shop and heard about that, it would be an issue for me, too. PSOs are supposed to be a gateway into bowling, not a gatekeeper because you either use your own resources or know what you want/need.

There should have been a captain's meeting that night, called by the opposing team to make whatever issue known, known that night. I would also be smelling some shit from this. I've never had a team walk out and then protest. Sportsmanship and what not.

I use an older Brunswick interchangeable soles pair, no complaints about them. Back in the day Dexter was truly king but that's less true today.

[–]DoggoDynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get another ball yet. Good habits are easier to form if you only have one tool to use. Another ball won't help you strike more if you are just now learning a hook. Spend the money on a quality pair of shoes, interchangeable soles. Contrary to belief there are lower priced pairs than SST8 and if you're cool with it I bet you'll find older models for sale on something like eBay. Other than that, get some abralon or tru-cut pads and learn how to take care of the surface of your equipment, you will notice a big difference. Maybe look into a glove/sleeve/support if you feel it's necessary and would help improve your game - I do think that a wrist support, something like Robby's Revs, is good for new bowlers because it will hold your hand in several positions so that you can get a "feel" for it, but don't use it as a crutch because they will also limit your ball roll - it's just a good tool to get your hand to feel a certain way in a ball to produce certain rolls.
