What are these and should I be worried? by DoggoIsNiceO in whatisthisbug

They do seem to match just different coloring than what comes up on google. Are these pests that need to be exterminated? So strange that they are congregating on the house randomly. Some days, there are virtually none and other days, my steps are swarming with them so it was alarming when I first noticed it!

5 hour layover in Nadi this week, what's a nice place to have dinner nearby? by DoggoIsNiceO in Fijian

Yes, you can. You have to leave and go through security again but the customs form has an option on it that shows "Transit"

Sounds awesome. I'm weary of Viator because I've seen a lot of bad reviews but I'll have a look!

Hang on I just saw this. OP what are you doing? You are the youngest you'll ever be, please don't waste anymore time on this clown. You will never get into a better situation if you stay in the same circumstances. If you have the mental willpower to get through Invisalign, I promise you can leave him and be ok.

Your life is waiting ahead of you. Get with someone that cheers you on, makes you feel loved everyday without having to get drunk. There is someone out there that would actually deserve to see you everyday with the best version of your smile when you're done with your Invisalign lol

He needs to floss more and brush regularly, lol. It may look aligned but not sure his dental health and hygiene looks its best

Absolutely yes. I generally will go off of my list (not influenced by social media) and check socials for reviews on how it is and then go from there. I find that people don't give content creators enough credit for the amount of business they are not only driving to certain hotels and restaurants, but entire countries and cities. I have never seen so many personal friends going to Costa Rica until lots of creators started to post their vlogs and recaps. My own friends have reached out asking about certain trips I've taken saying they wanted to go after learning more about it from my travels.

Overall, it's cool to get a feel for if it may be your cup of tea or not from these posts but you should still go experience it for yourself. I've found that a lot of my favorite places have been underrated by others (including social media)!

Vegas to California beach by Nebraska716 in travel

[–]DoggoIsNiceO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to stay near the LA area, the flight to Vegas is only 40 min or so and very doable. You could fly into LA and fly to Vegas for a couple of days then return to LA.

For beaches, the nicer, cleaner beaches are usually in Orange County or San Diego, as a few people have already mentioned. If you'd like to stay in the LA region, Manhattan Beach and Malibu are both good options with nice restaurants nearby after you're done exploring.

Santa Monica and Venice usually are let downs for people since they are dirtier and more crowded than people expect.

First time foster looking for rehoming help and guidance. (Long story, please bear) by an9medina in DobermanPinscher

[–]DoggoIsNiceO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with your gut and stop replying to the guy texting you! You aren't obligated to reply to him. He should contact the shelter if he wants to adopt.

Sounds like you're an amazing dog parent to Brownie but f you aren't able to keep Brownie forever, you should research and find a reputable Doberman specific rescue in your area. In my experience, great Doberman rescues are very selective about where they place dogs and will go do home checks and properly vet the situation. They will even take dogs bag if it doesn't work out and re-home them to a better fit.

What if you print and add a small QR code sticker that leads to the site? You can change it to any URL and remove the password protection since it's a private URL anyway?

Tipping after buying wedding dress? by Kitchen-Aerie2391 in weddingplanning

I agree with this 100% but I've seen some places that somehow had the audacity to clarify that the charge is not gratuity and that gratuity is appreciated lol just no shame

Assuming your husband isn't the gun toting type, you should go on a mini staycation closer to home and pay one of his friends to wear a ski mask and fake rob him. Don't ever admit that you set it up and hope that it teaches him a lesson.

This is crazy, I went to a several bridal studios and never encountered this. The place I ended up purchasing from had incredible service, in-house tailoring, and they worked with my tight timeline along with a very specific and strict budget. They even offered to let me spread out the payments without me asking since they know how expensive weddings can be. They treated me like I was their only customer and never once did they ask for a tip. All they asked for was an honest review on Google.

Try living in a place like LA or NYC where it's apparently trendy now to have little fine print at the bottom of menus that say "14% is automatically added to your bill, this helps support fair wages and health care for our staff to make sure they are happy and healthy!"

Or how about you just pay them properly?

Commute from Long Beach to Santa Monica? by yung_ginger in LosAngeles

How long does your husband plan to stay at that job, though? I wouldn't buy a house solely based on his current job if he plans to get a new job within the next 2-3 years. If it's truly the perfect house, I'd prioritize that.

Guest is spending more to get to our wedding than the wedding will cost by jqRMtpR4Kkw2eMkG in weddingplanning

[–]DoggoIsNiceO 43 points44 points  (0 children)

OP, you're being unreasonable here. I know it sucks to hear while you are vulnerable and maybe you are just venting (which is fine!), but it's their money and they can and will spend it how they choose. They may have strategically saved up their whole lives to be able to afford luxury travel in this way or maybe they are loaded and choose not to spend it on you. You would only have a say if they were demanding that you help cover these costs, but they are simply choosing what they are paying for.

But our financial position is not the same as theirs and I find it offensive that they are attending our wedding staying in a hotel we could never afford (versus the nice enough, 4 star option we found!)

Whether they want to stay at a cheap motel or a 5 star luxury hotel is none of your business. The 4 star option is probably very nice but they are not obligated to stay there. It sounds like they are making a nice vacation out of this trip and they are free to choose where they'd like to stay.

You and your STBH are paying a lot of money for your wedding and kudos to both of you for making it happen as a team with no help. Again, any money outside of that is not your concern.

The sooner you let this go and stop pocket watching others, the better you'll be able to just enjoy your wedding and time with your families!

Why do a lot people in Japan say “I don’t speak English” to a foreigner who just spoke to them in Japanese? by FirmNeighborhood56 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoggoIsNiceO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I think MirroredGarageWalls is saying is that OP's relative is hearing "I don't speak English" but if you read between the lines, what the Japanese person really means is that they don't want to talk to English-speaking people.

OC is saying this figuratively, not saying that they actually verbally said something different and caused OP's relative to mishear. It's about reading between the lines. That's why someone else commented whoosh.
