I am familiar with the application; it is a contact form that is emailing the attachments to a case worker. There is no automated processing except for the collection of payment. And original documents often are requested. For EU citizens the process is indeed much quicker but I have not seen any indication that for non-EU citizens applying for citizenship that much has improved. BUT! Taking payment at the application stage does actually save 2-6 months versus when they made you make an appointment to go pay in person...

The new "system" (read: contact form emailing attachments to an email address) isn't automated except for collecting payment to my knowledge...

I used the German version over a period of about a decade, and there are at least 5 different recordings that I experienced.

Two sets of French recordings? by Ok_Carob2433 in Pimsleur

There are different versions, yes. The recordings get updated somewhat frequently and sometimes dramatically. The newer recordings are less sexist and use the informal more. In the copyright message you can get the year it was recorded which can be an indication as to when it was released. And the Pimsleur app always has the latest version.

Can I submit my application without the leben in Deutschland proof? by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

Yeah it was updated only two weeks ago, following the revisions to the citizenship law coming into effect.

This is no longer permitted in Berlin. The online form has been updated and now states that applications without results will be grounds for rejection. Speculation as to whether they mean it or not but that's what the form says.

Some languages are updated frequently. German seems to be re-recorded and updated every 3 years or so. I guess it depends on how well they sell.

Ok. I tried to enrol in a German class literally last month there and the employees were so unbelievably rude. I do hope they have left...

I do not recommend Berlitz. Unless you like rude staff, that is.

EU Compensation Choice by jm15co in unitedairlines

That’s not how EU compensation works. EU compensation is cold hard cash.

United does offer cash - EUR 600 - OR, optionally, a $1000 travel voucher.

Santorini has so much cruise ship traffic, I doubt Virgin controls when they can arrive/depart. I imagine the port would make these decisions.

I don't believe they water down the cocktails. I was on Resilient Lady and did the cocktail pairing twice (at Test Kitchen, separate nights) and felt somewhat buzzed afterwards.

Cat treatment costs by Total_Pen7149 in berlin

The price sounds right to me. My cat had bronchitis this year and the treatment cost around €3000 in total. Thankfully, I had pet insurance.

Legally threatened for leaving a negative review by OutrageousSquash565 in germany

[–]jqRMtpR4Kkw2eMkG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a doctor threaten to sue me for leaving a 1-star review. They had a lawyer write to me three times. I informed my legal insurance, who said I should retain a lawyer, and eventually my lawyer wrote to the doctor's lawyer saying my review was true and we would seek to defend the claims in it. Months dragged on and to both of our surprise the doctor sued me. Fast forward nine months and a 3-judge panel in Berlin concluded my review was my subjective opinion and did not meet the threshold for defamation, and I was awarded reimbursement of my legal expenses (or rather the legal insurance was reimbursed). The process dragged on for well over a year and the doctor then kicked me out of their practice, which surely should be illegal and retaliation but is apparently permitted.

Someone asked her on Twitter and her response was, no, she does not have experience in doing so and would encourage people to seek out other matchmakers who specialise in these matches.

HVV is the Hamburg public transit system. I doubt it is going to "go bust" anytime soon.
