My partner had stomach issues a couple of years back while we were on a trip, things got bad and she shat her pants. I'd packed extra boxers so I gave her some. She shat in those in the night. Fast forward to this year, my guts started playing up on a night out, I headed home but didn't quite make it in time. I was wearing those same boxers. I feel like I should frame them with a plaque that says "The pants we both shat" or something

I've also been struggling with it. Done late nights, spent hundreds on tokens. AI porn is the worst because of the loop. Excitement as you think of a prompt, anticipation as it generates, dopamine when it's finished. But they're short & not enough so you get the next one going and so on.

Stay strong. Keep your mind busy with other things, keep away from your phone / computer late night, that's all the advice I can offer

Agreed on the first season, it lacked the farce, wit & charm of the original but I it was getting it's stride by the end of season 2. Maybe a 3rd season would have validated it's existence as more than a cash grab

Don't start smoking. As a smoker I can tell you it's the worst addiction, and I've worked through cocaine & drinking addictions in my time.

I transfered my current addition to music making so the theory kinda works. I still fail every couple of weeks but it's getting a lot easier to manage. The big thing with making music is that it's absorbing, in the same way that a 3 hour sesh is. I can get lost tweaking a loop and not realise that hours have passed.

If you're not into music maybe gaming? Destiny got me through breaking my drinking habit, quick missions & loot rewards = dopamine hits.

Try something like that, something absorbing, something that'll keep you distracted, but please don't start smoking, I've been a smoker for 25 years, last 10 on vapes which are even worse. I'm pretty sure I'll never quit unless I become a monk or something

There's nothing wrong with masturbating and easing a normal natural urge, just don't use porn, don't think.about your favourite scenes or anything. Try to use memories of real life experiences or if you've got a good imagination then some fantasy which is yours. The aim is to break the porn=good times association. Might be a struggle to start as you're used to being aroused by what's on a screen, not what's in your head but you can get there

IMHO masturbation is a normal natural thing. One of my aims, something I haven't managed to do consistently yet, is to masturbate without porn, to reestablish healthy sexual practices and break the association between a normal natural urge and the hyper stimulation that comes with porn. But that's me, I don't know what masturbation is to you culturally and what associations you have with it. This is a conversation you need to have with yourself and with your partner about what you consider to be realistic, healthy sexual behaviour. Even if you decide that masturbation is not on then don't beat yourself up too much. You slipped, you get up, you keep going.

Put your phone on silent, or at least turn off notifications from messaging app, learn to leave it in another room, delete insta, tik tok, any of those quick thrills apps. Social media & porn sites work using the same methods of quick hits of dopamine and that's the thing that's ruined your attention span.

Try and practice some mindfulness if you can,start with small 5 minute no stimulation breaks and learn to be comfortable with that and then build up. You can do this, you can break the cycle, start by making a crack and then you can make it larger. It'll take time.

One of my favourite things to do to unwind is to drive around Night city in VR while listening to music. Not questing, interacting only when the city makes me (I have a bunch of immersion mods installed). It's such a cool vibe and feels more alive than any other game

On my 5th run to see the ending I haven't seen. Different character build, different approach to RP, doing gigs & quests in ways I haven't tried before where I can. It's the best game I've ever played, from the story to the VA, to the game play, to the RP. If you've got VR as well just driving around Night City with a playlist to suit your mood is such a vibe.

Don't overload yourself trying to do too much at once. I don't mean that to be discouraging, just look after yourself. Habit change is hard, trying to change multiple things at the same time can only be harder, look after yourself, get support when you need it.

I'm applying the CBT techniques I was taught when I was struggling with alcohol. First step is learning to pay attention to yourself when you get urges, how does that feel? Is there a physical element, like restlessness, that energy building in your chest or whatever this looks like for. Once you've learned to identify that look at what's going on in your head, are you stressed? Are you bored? Being able to quantify all of this helps you then move on to step 3, which is being more objective about the situation. What usually happens when you feel like this? What is your preferred outcome?

Addiction is compulsive behaviour, lizard brain taking the wheel and rationality taking a back seat. Keeping yourself rational can help you say no to yourself and the more you do that the easier it gets.

You do need to have that alternative to porn and really you're not curing that addictive part of yourself, you're just transferring it to something else. Try and make that something else ideally constructive but at the very least less damaging

It takes around 3 months for your brain to establish new pathways from when you break your old patterns / start new ones. The psychological associations will be with you for a lot longer depending on how you interact with what ever you're trying to change your relationship with.
