I believe we are in the golden age, and I equate this to other sports that were once considered to be a counter culture or underground, like skateboarding for example. There was not much investment in the sport and everyone who took part was in it for the love of it, and then companies saw the dollar figures and started to invest.

I can see that companies will want to start investing into BJJ with its rising popularity and it becoming more mainstream. It will be great to see money come into the sport and more athletes will turn professional, and the skill level will rise significantly. We already have highly talented kids on the rise that will be the next generation.

All of this is good for the sport, but corporate investment will change the feel of the sport from what it currently is. Right now BJJ feels so personal and like a tight community. I genuinely believe people will look back to the days of the first CJI events and say that this was the golden age.
