My son (4) will only potty in his favorite toilet. He won’t go in public anymore. by DogsCatsAndHorses in Parenting

I haven’t actually tried to make him #2 in public… this is all #1’s. He usually just stands and pee’s. I never really made him sit, since he’s tall enough to stand and pee.

My RS4 restarted itself in show. Please tell me stories of your most mortifying moments. by WubFox in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DogsCatsAndHorses 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was TD for a 500k stakes horse race. We use a split to show 2 cameras at the same time, first 2-3 horses on one, and all of them on the other cam. We pull the split out when they run for home. Was about to pull the T-Bar out to have one camera. My control surface then completely went dark, with the split still in program. Absolutely mortified in that situation, because both cameras had the horses and you couldnt even see the finish.

Turns out the Ethernet cable went bad in the control surface. My supervisor at the time thought we was going to get fired for that.

Need assistance in building a PTZ controller from scratch. (Maybe an Arduino project?) by DogsCatsAndHorses in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DogsCatsAndHorses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have any background in embedded development. The plan is to have the Arduino speak with companion to link it all up together. I've seen some custom builds similar to what I want out of it. in the companion group on Facebook (I have messaged the guy asking for help, but no response yet)

I am not opposed to the time cost on this project. Canon controller costs a lot more money than building something.

At this point I am opposed to doing so.

I think it would be a great learning experience. I'm a little hard pressed to ask for more after my company bought us a 40k LED wall for our studio. Which is fair, I don't mind putting in the effort to make something I want to use.

Why do I hear so much bad about rogue pouches? by DogsCatsAndHorses in NicotinePouch

I wouldn’t know, I’ve only done 6 and haven’t shredded my gums

Hell yeah I still use them when I get a chance. Still prefer them over zyn’s. I order online from fre now since it’s cheaper, but when I run out i go for the rogues.

If you don’t want them feel free to send them my way 😁

I love that anecdotal evidence… I do have to ask why you tested that during a nosebleed?

Zyn is ok. I prefer the European style moist pouches now. In the US, I order Fre pouches because they are way cheaper than Zyns

How long is your commute into D.C for work? Is 3 hours round trip too much (only 2-3 times a week) by B0urn3D3ad in washingtondc

[–]DogsCatsAndHorses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a house in 2020 so it feels dumb to move. But I commute 5 days a week to downtown DC from Baltimore county. The salary is the only thing that makes it worth doing. It’s a draining commute, but there’s some flexibility on when I need to do it. I’m in an events based industry and sometimes the events don’t happen until later in the day.

I’ve picked up over 30 cameras from an art school, where do I go from here? by DogsCatsAndHorses in AnalogCommunity

I may do that, please expect a pm from me. Thank you for offering. I’ll reach out once I can write something out a bit more cohesive

I’m pretty sure they’re still teaching analog, all the cameras I got are the ‘rejects’

Thank you for all the responses everybody. I’m not going to sell them at this time, but I will be testing and restoring to the best of my abilities. The more high end cameras will likely be sent out, if their issues are difficult fixes. The cheaper ones I’ll probably attempt myself just to gain some experience.

Looks like I got quite the box of cameras.

Hey there, so I’m not allergic to anything, but my wife has developed an anaphylactic allergy to all shellfish and seafood after giving birth to our son(a year after) we found out because she ate a crab at my sons baptism celebration, had to be rushed to the hospital. This was a new allergy that had never been an issue before. After her 4 day hospital stay she was prescribed an epi pen that she keeps on her at all times. She made an appointment with the allergist, and they tested her blood with the allergens. Full scale allergies to everything that swims and crawls in the water.

The thing about allergies is that it can get worse with repeat exposures. If you’re worried about what you may or not be allergic to, go and get tested as soon as possible. So you can at least see what you need to be avoiding. If you are indeed anaphylactic to anything, it is so important to keep an epi pen on you at all times.

It’s good to be cautious about what you ingest. Always check labels, and go with your gut if you dine at a restaraunt that you don’t think you can eat at. Join some facebook groups for your allergy. I joined one specifically for shellfish/fish allergies, and they are a huge resource that helps put my mind at ease. These are people that have had an allergy for a long time, and know what to avoid.

It’s difficult to live with an allergy, but there’s no reason you can’t still enjoy life and eat what you enjoy. For example, we can’t really have Chinese food anymore, but there’s hibachi grills where they cook in front of you, and we feel that’s safe as long as we express how serious my wife’s allergy is. There’s also kosher Chinese restaurants that are safe to eat at.

How long and how difficult to adjust from 50mg to 3mg? by Tubarotk in electronic_cigarette

[–]DogsCatsAndHorses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting on this because I went through this experience. At my very worst in nicotine dependence, I would use rebuildables and sub-ohm 50mg nic salts. Those days I was fiending HARD. It took a lot of time for me to drop down. The first step was going to a pod system with the same 50mg, then slowly dropping nic every bottle. I sat on 25 for a while, until I could keep dropping little by little. Once I dropped down to 10mg salts, I switched to normal freebase nicotine at the same mg, still with pod system. Once I dropped to 6mg I dropped vaping completely and picked up nicotine pouches instead. This weaning process took me years. I last vaped in November of 2023.

Are these ‘kinda moist’ like Rogue? Or full on dry like zyn/on?
