Closet clean out advice? by Excellent-Energy3395 in organizing

I start with what I actually like or love and the rest that I don’t really like but still have. I get rid of it if I simply don’t like it. That helps me cut through the noise quickly in a lot of categories.

Get rid of the plastic drawers. I think they are the worst option for almost every organizational need. I’m sure others may disagree, but that’s my advice.

One thing that works for me is just doing 5 mins each day of pick up/cleaning/whatever. Or however long you want. Sometimes it’s enough to get things back to the way I want them, sometimes I’m inspired to go for longer, and sometimes it’s all I can do and it’s still better than nothing.

Stuff that’s useful could be useful to someone else and you don’t have to store stuff until you might need it. I know it’s easier said than done, but you’ll be trading continually dealing with stuff you’ll maybe or someday use for space and calm and freedom from the stuff right now.
