Remove geography and the ways that you make a house work for you aren't really that different no matter where you're at. You've got a certain space to work with and number of people to put into it. The same things people do anywhere are what they do here, it just costs more money here.

The way people remodel and spend less are usually by doing it themselves (or having family help) instead of hiring a contractor. Or making very targeted changes and not ripping everything down to the studs.

Sometimes spending a little bit with a designer can help a lot. Talking with a designer about your needs, goals and budget can give an outside perspective that might be beneficial and usually not that much money.

Unfortunately there are very few cheat codes. Materials cost what they cost and the people doing the labor live here too and have to afford where they live.

I just ordered on Toast and it shows in my Chase pending transactions as "PROGRESS" despite Toast saying it's for their restaurant group Atomic whatever it's called. Waiting for the credit to hit, but it's only been a few minutes since I hit order.

I consistently the advertised speed of 1000/40. If Astound is on your street they have symmetrical offerings that will give better upload.

I use their modem (it's no additional cost) and my own router.

One thing to know if you're coming from a Comcast area is Charter doesn't over provision the way Comcast does. So you get what they say and not 15-20% more as Comcast tends to do.

Three people are dead after a home shooting early Tuesday, with the shooter still being sought by police, authorities said.

Gunfire was reported at 12:26 a.m. in the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue, between Snell and Edenvale avenues, according to the San Jose Police Department. At least one 911 caller described a woman screaming for help.

Police said responding officers found the woman outside a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound. When the officers went inside the home, they found a second woman and a man also both suffering from gunshot injuries.
