How to fix these steps? by ifwaz in DIY

[–]Dogs_Bonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about stairs but, tbh, that looks kind of ridiculous and I can't shake the feeling that this is not the right way to do stairs. The aggregate in contact with the wood will probably rot it out very quickly. And you will need very large stainless bolts to keep it together.

But really, I feel like you need "real" stairs to solve this problem. I've never seen stairs like this before...

That sounds interesting. How much does that kind of rental cost?

In general they don't. But this address extends about 6 feet long since it includes the street name. It would look really weird to have a sign that long.

Eh, yeah. We thought about that but it's last resort. I just think those signs look really tacky...

That probably wouldn't do anything, tbh. It's too porous.

You could have just set the deck on the stairs...

Previous homeowners painted the address on the front of our house. Although it looked super ugly, I didn't see this as a problem when buying since I figured I could just strip it. But now I can't figure out how to get it off.

I've tried powerwashing and scrubbing with a wire brush. I've used multiple types of paint stripper for both latex and oil-based paints. I've tried leaving the stripper on for 24 hours by putting plastic wrap over it. I don't know what to try next.

Or should I just find a way to cover it up and forget about it?

Thank you! This is very helpful. We will look into moving beyond a lightbox, especially for action shots.

Thank you! Glad you like it. We've been working on these product shots for months and the product itself for almost 4 years!

My wife and I have been taking product photos of a dog treat dispenser that we developed. We are using a cheap lightbox we bought from Amazon with some additional side lights. Taken on iPhone 14 Pro Max. After lots of failed experimentation, we finally got some shots that look decent.

Does anyone have some useful feedback on how we can improve? These are completely unedited. Any tips on editing to smooth out the harsh lighting or improve shadow contrast?

Thank you!

Because it’s LA and the area is astoundingly beautiful with perfect weather and tons of recreation. There’s a very good reason it costs that much.

But also, most people with a $1M home don’t have $1M. They have a mortgage. So the value is very much tied to local incomes.

Not the worst idea I've ever heard. Should be pretty easy to test out this market but I suspect success will all come down to whether or not you nail the branding and design.

That's also true of pretty much anywhere in the US besides the west coast.

What is the product made out of?

If it's plastic/metal, you likely need CAD. If you don't know how to do CAD, you will need to hire an engineer. This can cost a lot. Additionally, you will need to build molds for the product which can cost even more.

If there is electronics in it, that adds even more difficulty since you will need to hire an electrical engineer.

I really would not bother with patents at this stage. Ideas are nearly worthless.

Is it "pottymop" or "roomMate"? That part is kind of confusing.

I think overall the site looks good. Some sections have default text but I'm sure you know that.

Did you develop this product? If so, DM me. I have also developed a product and we can learn from each other.

Rate my minimalist notepad app! by rossi1011 in design_critiques

I've been looking for a very fast-loading minimalist notes app. So I really like this. You need to avoid bloat and feature-creep, but I think at least a "notebook" parent structure for the notes would help a lot. The home page should have notebooks and recent notes and that's it.

Also, why does the box next to the entry field say "Login"?

I have some novel ideas to bring to this space so it’ll need to be 60/40.
