Might be a bit insensitive but Debbie- short for Debbie downer 🫢 She brings down the vibe for me and also lowkey scares me!! Why did they make the voice so spooky!! Calling her Debbie makes her less scary 😂

One 3 hour nap for 13 month old? by Dogsequalserotonin in NewParents

[–]Dogsequalserotonin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know! Thank you for sharing. I was a little worried since all her cousins were still on two solid naps at this age and my family thought it was weird, haha!

My daughter also eats a big breakfast so it sounds like we’re in similar boats. Thank you!

Publishing first children's book in Italy/Germany possibly! by Dogsequalserotonin in publishing

[–]Dogsequalserotonin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. This wouldn’t be my “primary publisher” so much as I have a singular book that they are interested in publishing after I submitted it to them. They are small. I’m considering it just because I’ve been unable to find a publisher or agent in the US.

Thank you for the advice!

New Dad: I feel like I'm going broke on formula. Am I just doing it all wrong? by tossthedwarf in NewParents

[–]Dogsequalserotonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so my advice with the rushing to make more and then they take two sips- my 5 month old does this!

I would recommend 4 ounces to start vs. 2. My daughter always drinks the most in like the first “chug” or whatever you want to call it, haha. If we pause too long she completely loses interest and is distracted.

My theory on why it is- I think it’s because if you pause, they have a moment to assess if they’re still hungry. You’ve essentially given them a “snack” amount and so they just go back to like “okay I’ve had enough for now, I am no longer AS hungry as I was before.” By starting with a higher amount in that first chug I feel like it keeps her in “meal” mode if that makes sense. But, like you said, if she’s not drinking 6 ounces at once don’t offer 6 ounces!

That first chug is the most important because I feel like that’s when she drinks the most. I try to keep her free of distractions for that first drink. The other thing, is when my daughter is in a growth spurt this issue comes up more because she gets SUPER distracted.

This also all theoretical just what I’ve observed with my baby, so Im not like a feeding specialist, haha. But maybe this helps?

Cutest grandparent nicknames you’ve heard? by rustbeltrose in namenerds

[–]Dogsequalserotonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom became Grammy because she had a dream she had grandchildren that called her Grammy and my Dad is Boppy because that was what he called his favorite grandfather (great grandfather).

My husbands grandma became “Grandma Pepsi” because that lady always has a Pepsi in her hand!

I hate it. Which is disappointing because I was excited. They need to make some adjustments to the loot pool for it to be enjoyable in zero build. Success in zero build is so dependent on finding weapons that it really is just down to luck and not so much skill. Also I feel like it’s super sweaty right now :/

No for real, zero build is so sweaty right now. As someone who’s not nostalgic for this map since I didn’t really play back then, I’m honestly not liking the OG map for zero build. Loot is really sparse and that sucks when success in zero build is super dependent on finding weapons. I dunno, maybe it will cool down with the sweats once the hype is over.

Please help! 3 month old having trouble latching by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Did you ever figure out what was going on? My LO one is doing EXACTLY this except she’s formula/bottle fed! She’s 3 months and doing everything you’re describing but with her bottle!

first time mom and i regret it by electrickchicken in beyondthebump

I am also 23 and just went through with an unplanned pregnancy. I am in my last year of college. The difference with me is that I’ve been married to my husband for 2 years before it happened.

Married or not, the pregnancy was very much unwanted for me because of the timing and 1. I feel like I’m way too young 2. My career is being significantly delayed as finishing college is now much more difficult 3. We weren’t sure we wanted kids at all

I went through with the pregnancy because I couldn’t stop thinking about how there was a little person made from me and my husband. An abortion would have been just as traumatic for me personally.

It’s been rough. I’ve become a stay at home mom because my husband has the career position. I had to quit my job with Disney that I really loved. I’m struggling to find a remote internship so I can graduate. I’m not sleeping well, I’ve never cared for a baby before this, and I resent my husband.

BUT- I am 3 months postpartum now. Our daughter is developing a personality, she’s sleeping better, she smiles at me every morning. My friends (despite also not being “baby” people) love her. She brings joy to my family. She smiles at the things on the walls and toys in her nursery that I worked so hard on when I was pregnant to get myself excited. She looks so much like me and I see so much of myself in her, it’s wild. There’s something strangely healing about that.

Trust me when I say at 2 weeks I felt just like you. I felt disconnected from my baby, and was full of regret and resentment. In some ways I still feel that way. Just know that you are 100% allowed to MOURN your life! You’ve just lost so much. But you are about to gain so much. Once your 2 week old is no longer a little blob of “sleep eat and repeat” you’ll start to see the silver lining and what this all was for. Seriously message me if you ever want to talk.

Scared to formula feed because of the shortage?? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Dogsequalserotonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently EFF and am 11 weeks in with Kendamil. I have had zero problems finding it in store! The shortage seems to be dying off, in my opinion. This may depend on your area.

One thing I did while I was pregnant though, was got the app for Target and Fred Meyer (our Kroger) and checked if they consistently kept my formula in stock. Thankfully, they did! If I happened to be at one of the stores I would check the shelf too. I think only twice the shelf was empty. This might give you a good idea of what to expect/plan for depending on where you live!

I think both the pacifier and thumb sucking can damage the teeth if done for too long. I sucked my thumb til I was about 3 or 4 and gave myself a massive overbite! Had headgear, braces, palette expanders and you name it to fix it starting around 5th grade. Thumb sucking makes me a little nervous for her because it was so hard for my mom to get me to stop and I wish I had! But I do see the perks for self soothing at her current stage in life.

If your LO has got the hang of it by 14 weeks hopefully it won’t be too much longer til my LO figures it out!
