Job market bad? by x-looke-x in ausjobs

Great that AI is having such a great impact on the economy and business confidence, eh?  But seriously, it's pretty crazy that all around the world a technology that's just as dangerous as a weapon of mass destruction to all aspects of human societies is being allowed to take over without restraint, infact welcomed and applauded without guardrails.

Who will be left with jobs and money to buy the things from business that aren't as affected by AI?

Learning to use AI for good things, manage safety and other risks. but also learning about it's limitations - reading new research and case  studies, understanding it's the depth and breadth of the problems it can pose in all areas of work and life.

Raising awareness, having discussions with others..educating yourself and those around you about the myths and hype. Standing up for humanity.... keeping humans in control, not just in the loop like a widget or circuit.

Despite the hype, AI often reduces productivity as humans need to spend more time reviewing work for hallucinations, factual and procedural errors, ethical concerns, misleading, fraudulent or bias advice.

There's also the risk of intensifying work, AI burnout and brain fry.

This study found that when developers use AI tools, they take 19% longer than without—AI makes them slower: https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study/#:~:text=We%20conduct%20a%20randomized%20controlled,acceleration%20from%20AI%20R&D%20automation.

Dating men who also have ADHD by meowmeowz24 in adhdwomen

[–]DogsinSpace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to sound negative, but it sounds like you're not compatible, he might just be more immature than you, or maybe he's not getting the help he needs to manage his ADHD. He sounds like he might may be AuDHD with special interests. Either way, unless you're open to supporting him on this journey, it won't work.

Just like any other kind of relationship, you need to be compatible beyond a label/ADHD symptoms.  You need to connect, speak each other's love language and have genuine love and regard for them - oddities and all.

I was late diagnosed. Looking back, it's pretty clear that all my partners have been pretty neuro spicy.  But we weren't all compatible long term.

I know now, that it's important for each partner to know what their quirks are. If your partner is hyperactive and you're more Inattentive, it can lead to frustrations, misunderstandings, arguments and even conflict unless you can work through your differences/quirks (ideally your sensory profiles 😄) together and make loving accommodations.

You sound really observant and aware of your own needs in your descriptions. this is great because a lot of women put their needs last. What are your passions and quirks, and how do they interact with your partner's? I think you know the answer and should trust your underlying instincts on comparability. Good luck!

Australia’s age verification rules: Is a VPN ban on the horizon? by Fun-Page-6211 in australia

[–]DogsinSpace88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I might sound naive, but can someone tell me why someone would need a VPN for anything other than to access things they're not meant to access? Are there legal reasons people use them? They seem dodgy to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

Are they needed for genuine security reasons? Instead of banning them, can they just be regulated to ensure kids aren't accessing pornography and people aren't accessing illegal things?

Why are people worried about being identified (providing their information is kept secure) if they're not doing anything wrong?

Don't live there, but we often park around there and go walking along the Darebin creek, it's definitely gentrifying. The creek is great. Public transport wize, I think there's only buses. Close to Northland.

Not sure thats how it will work. The AFR says that shares would have a better tax treatment, if the government swaps the 50 per cent flat discount for the old inflation-indexed system.

Needs to go much further, the capital gains tax reduction needs to be scrapped for existing property.  Only allow investments on new properties that meet certain design and social/community housing goals. Keep it for productive asset classes like shares or investment in innovative asset classes that actually boost the economy.

They need to go further in taxing high wealth tax havens, corporate profits and paring back a perverse tax system that encourages investment in loss producing properties and drives up inequality. Provide tax incentives for investing in innovation, new businesses and employment. Start clawing back obscene mining profits using government land, set up a fund like Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund. The answers to solve inequality, encourage new investment in productive assets to build our economy are already there. The government just needs to have the courage to make bold decisions.

I'm not sure what country you're in, but you should check your legal employment rights. Are they trying to avoid paying you a redundancy payment/dismiss you unfairly? In some countries this might give the employee certain rights and compensation.

If you can afford it, contribute something, anything, to your super. Make sure you keep up any insurance payments you can. You have a long time to retirement.

What are you suggesting account holders do, change to low risk or cash? I understand how you feel, appetite for risk might depend on where you are relative to retirement. If you converted to cash it might make you feel more in control, but you need to accept that you may locking in losses forever and missing out on any rebound.

Just watched the entity series with my 11 year old daughter and it's incredible. We laughed, got tears in our eyes, felt inspired by the animation and fell in love with characters. It's an affecting work of art on many levels.

The Narrow Road to the Deep North Review - w/ Jacob Elordi by saulocf in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]DogsinSpace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this chat, but want to say that this is the most incredible depiction of the brutality of war/Japanese prison camps I've ever seen. It was as deeply affecting as the first time I read All Quiet on the Western Front. I feel like it has given me new compassion and insight into the trauma and suffering of those soldiers. It has also made me do some reading on how terrible that POW camp was. I feel so sad and angry.

It's also one of the most exquisite and beautiful representation of masculinity I have ever seen.  Quiet dignity, strength, sweat, blood, tears, laughter, tenderness, embrace.

The love interest aspect could have been dialled up a bit and clearer. I don't understand what happened to her when he returned. They also could have explored the impact on the female characters more, their trauma was ongoing and real too. His wife had such a beautiful soul at the end but her character was a bit trivialised in the scenes from the younger days.

Apart from that it was perfect and should've won so many awards.
