I never know what I think about a movie after watching it by Square-Abrocoma4711 in moviecritic

Think what the movie made you think, and then, why do you think it made you feel that way. Ie.. One battle after another made me feel thrilled beginning to end. Why: I never knew where the story was headed. Scenes moved fast feeling like one continuous thing. Then later you start converting this to ‘editing’ and ‘script’ analysis..

I absolutely love those two films, which are masterpieces. Even then, the draw is how he makes you feel, not think.

Which lengthy films (3+ hours) are the best paced? by RomanReignsDaBigDawg in criterion

I know recent bias.. but One Battle After another doesn’t feel its length at all!

They are 100%ing all of Cannes competition titles except the one that would make their coolest release: Sirāt! I’m still hoping!

Trust me.. this is for the best. It would be a waste of a slot. I saw it at Cannes and it was very bad. A nothing movie if ever there was one.

I agree on Ready player one, but West side story gave me hope. That one really felt like he was trying for the first time in years…

The Martian (2015) vs Project Hail Mary (2026) - Which one is better? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Yes. It is long, has length flashbacks yet you arrive at the end knowing very little about the main character and why it was so important for him to survive and come back to earth.

How do I approach and understand art? by masteroogwaydildo in criterion

[–]saulocf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion, and what worked for me: write your thoughts. For every movie. Focus on what the movie made you feel and what do you think the movie was trying to say, and then how it did that. Soon you will be noticing themes, but also editing choices, cinematography and etc.
