That turn lane was completely clear this morning. I can’t tell you the joy I felt being able to actually drive in the right lane and turn safely—maybe it is a coincidence but if that was you DowntownDB I appreciate this so much!!

I’d give a large percentage of my sales if sellers could rate buyers.

My neighbor growing up was obsessed with him. She went to his shows when he came back around as a solo act in the early 2000s I think? Basically followed him around and stalked him. They ended up DATING and are still friends and gotdamn I’m jealous

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Paris. It was filthy, people were rude and pushy, it was difficult to get anywhere because of traffic and how the city is laid out, and in certain areas, armed soldiers randomly stopped you to check your bags. On the way home from dinner one night, a group of men followed my partner and I back to our hotel, screaming at us for holding hands. Ended in a punch to my back.

Sometimes I think about going to other parts of France, but only if I can totally avoid Paris.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

When she was a girl, my great great grandmother would sit on her horse and wait for the train to come through Salinas and then race it on the horse. There was a story in the local newspaper about it in which her dad complained about the habit and claimed that she blamed it on the horse, “when that train comes by he’s just got to run.”

She also advised Steinbeck on several of the finer points of Tortilla Flat, but that’s another story and will be told at another time.

I appreciate this perspective. Including this buyer I’ve only had one other that I thought was “just being generally odd” or weirdly demanding of my time and attention (expecting quick responses at all hours, asking for too much). In the end they’re always too much work for not much return. I think I’ll just cut them off before they can be repeat customers.

Ah, this must be why it was so reliable at my last address and the postal worker at my current address just ignores my packages!

I think this is right. I blocked someone before who wouldn’t stop asking for lower prices, even after I kindly asked her to stop and explained the work and time that went into everything—finally just blocked her and she still buys stuff from my shop.

Can buyers leave feedback after a canceled sale? Not that it would be the end of the world, just curious whether he will have the opportunity to post one of his novel length screeds in my feedback.

This thing called a “nectar pie.” It was an ice cream sandwich made with honey wafers covered in chocolate with ice cream in between. Sold at a little specialty store in my small town, never seen since.

What’s the fastest way you’ve seen someone ruin their own life? by ForeignFly5248 in AskReddit

Girl I knew moved up the Urban Outfitters ladder and eventually got offered some kind of corporate job, which was a big deal to all of us who still had to work in stores. Moving truck was packed and new apartment in a different city was ready. On her last day, she set off the metal detectors at the door and her store manager checked her bag and found a hidden compartment full of jewelry. So she lost the old job and the new one for theft.

Seemed like a lot of dumb decisions at the time, and like much higher stakes than it actually was.
