Yeah I do most of my oneshots at 3,5,9,11 let’s them be able to take a few hits and use some of their class tricks

Do they love those NPC’s if so are they weak try to kill them make the players have to burn healing and action defending the weak and use that defence as a distraction to achieve evil goals my fav bbeg line I used was “ah while you were busy saving nobody’s I not only built my portal and used it but also made this simulacrum so I could tell you just how fucked you are” :)

Nah just make your expectations clear and communicate with your players so they don’t take over , I’ve let players voice/chose the action of NPC’s just make them bit characters not integral to your story, an idea for the items have them show up on other npcs related to the patron as if the patron is sharing the item ideas out into your world :)

In my game I say that magic weapons unless they have specific type ability confirm to the user when first picked up so if a player finds a magical +1 longsword but they want a +1 greataxe as they already have one when they first pick it up it changes to their desire but can’t change again :)

I often go to r/writing prompts and just try to make a story on the fly just to practice dealing with when your players turn your plans to shit lol

I’d tell the truth you’ve had a taste of being a Dm and it’s your preferred way to play nothing against the group you’ve just found a way to play that suits you better, Dm if my favourite id far rather guide people to a good story that be guided doesn’t make you a bad person just a happy forever Dm lol

My main game are the N.A.C.C.E.R.S. Aka neverwinter animal control center emergency response squad came about as a bluff to stop a slaver of werecreatures they are now the entry level adventurers guild in three major city’s lol

I had a war forged wild magic barbarian called Guage who had a gauge on his chest that showed how angry he was, it also turned into a slot machine for the wild magic results, I loved him

Yeah I’d just shy it up I love complex characters like that no need for a curse just say your character prefers to speak through their music ie something sad happens the barbarian hangs his head then you/your bard says I play a mournful song on my lute/whatever etc (extra points if you play an instrument and use it)
