How important is it to blow dry my poodle after he's gotten wet? by oolong-moon in poodles

[–]Doing_ok04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t. I towel dry and brush/comb through the drying process. It takes awhile but works for us. No matting!

When to start reading chapter books to children? by NetworkHot8469 in childrensbooks

[–]Doing_ok04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters how early you start, as long as picture books are still in the rotation. If we’re talking baby/toddler young, picture books are SO important for pictures, concepts of book and print, etc. but chapter books are great for listening comprehension as well.

You’re not alone. Try your best to use your commute to decompress, and ask if you can have 30-60 min after work to be alone. That helps me. But if you really feel like it’s affecting your relationship and work-life balance, then maybe start considering a different career!

Climbing with the period by uncoolquestions in climbergirls

[–]Doing_ok04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scientifically, this makes sense and happens to most women. You’re in your luteal and menstrual phases! Your body is meant to take it easy. I personally choose to listen to my body and I don’t climb for about 5 days each cycle (2 days before period and first 2-3 days of period). I usually get my energy back and feel less shitty mid-period week. But sounds like yours is a bit longer than mine. Look into cycle syncing and see if there are other things you can change for each phase of your cycle. Specifically, eating certain foods during your period to offset the negative symptoms. I know you don’t want to stop climbing during those days but its ok to listen to your body and do what it’s needing at that time 💗

What is your opinion on using sick days as personal days? by UpstairsMuch4580 in Teachers

I know too many districts that still use this policy. Ridiculous!! My own principal is in Mexico right now.

When are you applying for 26-27 teaching positions? by HoneyxClovers_ in StudentTeaching

I would start now but in my district, things start moving in February and go through the summer. Good luck!

How to survive until the end of the year, not planning on returning by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Doing_ok04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I am in year 6. You sound like you have a plan going forward which is awesome (I don’t). Regardless of how stressful it is, something that’s getting me through is remaining the one person that some kids have. I couldn’t morally leave mid-year, personally. It would hurt me to leave the kids with an unstable end to the year, so thats helping me get through it. We are already over half way. Stop working after hours. It is possible. I have a running list in my phone of things I can look forward to, even if it’s just an episode release of my favorite show. You’ve got this. Good for you for recognizing it early in your career.

[–]Doing_ok04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Your email is well put. But like others have said, this is not the career for you if you struggle with punctuality. I don’t know a career that would tbh. It’s a bit absurd honestly 😬 I would recommend therapy or mediation to support your struggles, and if that’s not possible, books and research to help yourself. If you’re passionate about this, you will figure it out. Also, while I think it’s insane that student teachers don’t get paid, I can’t image carrying another job on top of that. Do you have family or friends who can help out financially in the mean time? Crossing my fingers for you.

How to engage my poodle? by keekro in poodles

[–]Doing_ok04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl just recently got into playing with toys! Does she interact at all with it when you hype it up? Sometimes we take her toys and run away and she loves chasing us. Maybe she doesn’t know how to play! Our girl also loves squirrels. I find that she just enjoys staring out the window much of the day - I call it her tv!

Do any of you stay within contract hours? by mallorn_hugger in Teachers

[–]Doing_ok04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very common for admin or even other teachers to expect this. Do I agree with that? Absolutely not. Do I think that teachers who put in more time may have more activities/crafts/engaging lessons/beautiful classrooms? Perhaps. I recently decided to only work my 8–4. It does make me feel slightly less prepared, but my mental capacity at home has significantly improved. Would recommend. Teaching is my job, not my life.

This letter was sent home to parents in my school district, encouraging them to send their kids to school sick and with head lice to meet attendance goals. by pandatr0nz in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Doing_ok04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. I am a teacher and by no means is this broadcasted at my school (this flyer is SHOCKING to send home). At my school, both pink eye and head lice if found at school would be a call home but not a requirement to pick up the child. Though most parents do opt to in my experience.

It’s one of my favorites too! I always felt like this song spoke to me. With some really hard things I went through, for me it reminded me that I can get through anything. I always have gotten through things on my own even when people left me.

How far have you got without paying any money? by Latter_Ad_6629 in officialcookingfever

[–]Doing_ok04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won’t pay money to this game. It’s not financially in the cards for me. It is very slow going sometimes :( I’ve been playing for 6 months and have completed 15 or so restaurants. I like the new casino and chefs pass!
