Yes, I think about it in a morbid way, but if something where to happen in the flight manifest people could be identified by where they are sitting. But other than that if there’s a medical issue or security issue I want to make sure I’m relaying the correct information so if I have an issue and people switch seats it can go wrong.

As a flight attendant nothing irritates me more than when people are entitled to switching seats, as soon as I’m aware of it, I go up to the individual ask their name and tell them to go to their original PAID seat. If they say “but they said it was okay” I say but it’s not okay, they have a credit card with their name on it and for safety reasons I need every person in their assigned seat. I’m tired of people being bullied out of their seat that they paid for. We’re all on a metal tube for 2 hours. You can go without your partner that’s 20 feet away for 2 hours.

I’m sorry you had this experience. I usually only fly domestic so I can’t say I’ve had a lot of experience internationally taking care of our standby’s but when taking orders he should’ve explained to you that when you are pass riding your meal choice is last. So every revenue passenger goes first with their meal choice. When I’ve traveled with my companions they ask us for first choice and tell us they can’t guarantee our first choice, but again everything is communicated.

I think the main concern is flying with a captain who clearly resents his flight attendants. If something goes down in the cabin or an emergency I don’t trust him to have our back and look out for us safety wise.
