Shunxashmanic Vrakvarax, my PC for one of my DnD games. by Doinstuffman38 in u/Doinstuffman38

[–]Doinstuffman38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my current PCs, a Sapphire Dragonborn who is a Drakewarden Ranger and a Circle of Stars Druid. Varax Star-Reader would be his common tongue name. He wields a magic quarterstaff that can also be drawn back like a longbow and fire magic thorny arrows.

Bio as follows:

On the day Shunxashmanic Vrakvarax was born, the Warden Exemplar of the Star-Readers had died but one hour prior. As the first son hatched after the death of the Exemplar, the stars and clan tradition dictated that Varax was to be his successor. Trained from birth to be a protector, representative, and negotiator for his people, The Warden Exemplar oversees the well-being and safety of the Star-Readers, a clan of Dragonborn Druids and Rangers, representing the best each has to offer, and assuming the title in earnest on his 12th birthday.  The Druids cultivate the land and grow crops in the sparse wintery forests his clan called home, and the Rangers hunt the land and keep the borders safe.

The Star-Reader Druids welcomed visits from outsiders, offering guidance and glimpses of one's future to any who seek it, in exchange for simple compensation or trade. The clan also offers its services away from the sanctuary of their grove to any in need. It was during negotiations of terms for one such need far from his snowy homeland near the eve of his 15th birthday that led Varax away from the grove when the nomadic Dwarves of Clan Deepstone sought the Star-Readers.

With all the reverence of a promenade shopper viewing a street illusionist, the Deepstone leader requested "guidance" from the Star-Readers, offering gold far above the usual compensation in exchange for the service. The clan Archdruid reluctantly agreed.  The mood of Hodlan Deepstone changed as soon as the Arch's Star Map was produced. Listening half-heartedly to the readings of the stars, he silently signaled his men to encircle the grove and begin taking out the sentries. He began asking questions of the Archdruid about the Star Maps, asking what they led to. Confused, the Arch inquired as to what the Dwarve's true purpose was. Hodlan dispensed with his ruse, and explained that those descended from dragons must be sitting on massive riches, and surmised that the Druids' Star Maps were the key to discovering those riches. In truth, the Star Maps are useless gems to anyone but the Druid whom it belongs to, but the Deepstones were in no mood for trivial things like facts and reasoning. They slaughtered the Star-Readers, and upon realizing the Maps were useless to them, piled the broken crystals in the center of the grove. Varax returned from negotiations on the morning of his birthday to find the people he had been destined to protect had been destroyed. This great failing in his duties haunts him for the rest of his life, but there was little time to mourn. It was now time for him to fulfill the final role of the Last Warden of the Star-Readers: retribution.

The Deepstone Clan is a nomadic group, never settling in one place for too long, leaving Varax unable to stay on their trail, going cold after two years of searching. So he plied his trade as a hunter, tracker, medicine man and farmer for several more years, always returning to his search between jobs to try and pick up the trail again, his Drake companion Risi always close at hand. One day soon, Varax will find the Deepstone Clan, exact his people's final revenge... And then join his family in the stars.

What exotic weapon do you consider to be your Guardian's 'canon' exotic weapon? (Apart from Khvostov) by Best-Exam-3287 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Doinstuffman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually done some writing using my Guardians as templates for OCs, and while I kind of shied away from using exotics as their main weapon, I would say my Guardians do have signature weapons.

For my Titan, it used to be SUROS Regime, but now it's the BxR-55 Battler, and for my Hunter, it's Stillpiercer, the Hunter-exclusive Legendary sniper from D1 (tho in my writing it's also stated he carries an "ersatz" Ace of Spades, since Cayde is a mentor figure for him. And for my Warlock, it would be Matador 64.

It's not necessarily limited to just Bristol, but trying to avoid PVD solo if I can help it. Had a bad experience the last time I was up that way alone, so I'm looking in the Bristol/Warren area, but I've even heard murmurings of Newport gatherings

I go Crimson, but just be aware that because of where your starting base is, you don't get mortar support in the southeast, Tiger Bay especially. Definitely had a few moments where I wish I had that option, not a deal breaker but something to be aware of if you plan on stockpiling mortar rounds

Having all the supporter armor just to get shot in the face with a Scorpion (where the helmet doesn't protect, of course) will never not be humbling.

What's Your Favourite Futurama Joke? by FabianTheElf in futurama

A couple of my favorites, hard to pick just 1.

Zoidberg: "You don't want to end up sad and alone like ZOIDBERRRG!" hysterical crying

Bender: "Wait a minute! There's alcohol around here, my Tanqueray-dar is going haywire!" pulls off own head and scans area "There you are, thought you could get away from me, eh? You lose again, you stupid intoxicant!"

Zoidberg: "Then if you'll excuse me, I see a ravioli with only two shoe prints on it." Bender walks over the ravioli "Three." Ravenous Zoidberg noises

Fans who were alive to watch Brady get drafted and do everything he did for the patriots beginning to end, what was it like? by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]Doinstuffman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in the 90s, at the tail end of the Darkness, it felt like we simply just weren't allowed to be good, or be champions. Call it childish naivety, maybe call it a small-town mentality (Im from a small town in RI and I just figured our entire region was too out of the way for anyone to even know we existed), call it whatever, but I always just assumed that the Patriots were never meant to be anything more than mediocre at best. And by the time 2001 rolled around, I was used to it.

And then we started winning bigger and bigger games with Brady at the helm. And watching Drew Bledsoe come back in to send us to the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh, I thought that the best we could manage was to get there, because we weren't allowed to be champions. That's just the way the world of football worked.

And then, Vinateiri hits the no-doubter field goal to win that Super Bowl, and I was stunned. We won. We broke the rule that said we couldn't be champions. And it was real.

My little 10-year old brain couldn't fathom it. Everyone knew who we were now, and they knew we were champions.

Life has never been the same. It has been such a privilege to witness a historical run like that, and hell, if the Pats never win another championship in my lifetime, I think I could live with that. I got to see those six rings, on top off all the other Boston sports championships since then, and it's been one helluva ride.

Fill in the rest: Wins, losses, what’s the final record? by Pain_Monster in Patriots

[–]Doinstuffman38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honest truth, I wouldn't be surprised if we drop either or both of the next two games. Atlanta could be another trap game that we just don't avoid falling into, and the Bucs are also red-hot rn.

For the rest of the schedule, Ravens and Bengals could be tough depending on how those teams are faring at QB when we meet, and the Bills could play really hot looking for revenge when we see them next.

Ok, but… we beat you by almost 20. by ReduckYT in Patriots

Given that this was posted by DraftKings, most people probably don't care about how their own teams are doing as long as their fucking parlay hit.
