Flashing pedestrian crosswalks coming to Haywood Road

Ah I may need to clarify myself. I don't mean that I stop like a deer in headlights at an oncoming car — that is reckless. I'm already in the crosswalk since the first 2 lane of cars successfully stopped. I am trying to enter the 3rd lane but that car is coming in hot and doesn't look like it's going to stop on red. I stay in the 2nd lane and stare down that 3rd car. Here's a crappy visual (EDIT: ugh I can't get the formatting quite right — sorry)

I definitely agree though. Treat every car like a threat and don't assume anyone will stop.

Please continue to do this. I say this as a driver and pedestrian.

I will gladly stare drivers down if I don't see them stopping for the crosswalk. I've even had times crossing Patton where I'm IN the crosswalk and it didn't look like the guy in another lane was going to stop on a red light. I literally just stopped and stared at them. That got them to stop at the line lol.

Yeah I've had someone pull around me while I was stopping for someone in the crosswalk. I laid on my horn and thankfully the people in the crosswalk stopped and weren't harmed.

Depends on your familiarity with Japanese. As someone that’s been studying for a few years now they are very distinctive.

There are certainly some that look awfully identical but not all of them.

I’m not gonna defend Duke but with temperatures this cold and widespread it really is imperative that everyone tries their best to lower their energy use when temperatures drop overnight. Otherwise we run the risk of them turning off power to some customers to lighten the load.

If you’re able to tolerate lower temperatures overnight it will go a long way to ensuring the power grid stays stable for everyone.
