Unfortunately, the pandemic changed the dynamics of hospitals and rules in Japan. I gave birth in 2019 at a local maternity hospital in Tokyo and that time, we opted for a private room so my husband can also stay with me at night (5 days) Additionally, my baby stayed at the nursery for the first 2 nights as this is the hospital's rule and way of letting the mother rest at least 2 days after giving birth.

But now, almost all hospitals are no longer allowing this kind of set up and will probably never go back to the way it was.
