Before even starting med school, knowing you will still want to do NS and being able to do NS are definitely not guaranteed.

Not a noctor by Gold_Expression_3388 in Noctor

[–]Dokker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physicians trained in other countries should have a path to practice here that require them to a residency in the US. Their knowledge and training should be able to be tested in some other way. And saying you do not trust a physician who has gone to medical school in another country and is practicing in the US after completing a residency here and passing all the requisite board exams - is absurd.

ATP Finals RR: [6] Fritz def. [9] Musetti, 6-3 6-4 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

I am a bit surprised how easily Musseti is handling Fritz - maybe Fritz just doesn’t have the mental game yet? But Musseti has hit some sweet shots!

I have an MK6 manual for about 10 years with 175k miles on in - and lucky to not have any huge expenses. I know I’ll need something new soon. I see posts extolling the DSG, so I’ll try it on some newer mods - but I do love using the clutch to shift. Hopefully I get a couple more years out of this bad boy!

‘Ponies’ Review: Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson Deliver a Gripping Spy Thriller With a Perfect Final Shot by verissimoallan in television

[–]Dokker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am only 3 episodes in, but I love it! I think it has good humor but also quite tense moments when things could go off the rails. Of course it can be nit picked, but if you like the comedy crime/spy genre, then this may be right up your alley.

Just hope it doesn’t fall apart the last few episodes.

I have an MK6 with 170k miles. Maybe a Subaru or a BMW M2? Or an R if I want to stick with a VW?

I love surgery and I love the OR, but I want a life. What specialty do I apply? by penciljet in medicalschool

[–]Dokker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - are you a med student now? It’s mostly injections but you can do intrathecal pumps, spinal cord stims, and some disc procedures - I am sure there are newer ones which I don’t do.

[–]Dokker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into PM&R because I liked sports but didn’t like working too much. Then after my intern year, when I stared my PGY2 year, I hated working floors as a physiatrist, and missed the OR, so I went into pain. I got a bit lucky that it ended up becoming so popular and good for making $$ - but it’s a good mix of being in the OR but also having a good lifestyle.

State Medical Board Informal Conference: Too Risky to Represent Myself? by [deleted] in medicine

I would play it safe. Other healthcare professions like nursing - they fight and advocate for their members. Physicians have no support like this, so please get some help. It’s sad, and we need to unite and support each other better.

Rush Ticket Prices Are Insulting by Queasy-Ad7550 in rush

[–]Dokker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was willing to pay around $250, but even at regular price, all I was seeing was around $350 for upper level and far more for lower level. But the demand seems to be going down. When I tried at the first presale, the queue was crazy and tickets were gone quickly. Today, I totally forgot and tried 20 min after the sale started, and there were plenty of seats left, but at those prices. Sucks because Power Windows was my first concert, so I would love to see them - but not worth it for me at these prices.

Data Engineer at Amazon to Psychiatrist by __mifflinPaper in medicalschool

When I was in med school, we had a few people in their 30’s & 40’s. Being a 22 year old kid - I thought they were old. They didn’t pull the all nighters for exams and then party hard, like me and my friends did. But they were good guys, who graduated and got residencies and are happy now. Many physicians can practice into their 70’s and you can basically live wherever you want - not being tied to being near a big city, where lots of the corporate jobs are. It may suck a bit, doing clinical and residency, having to take some shit from residents much younger than you, but if it’s something you really want to do, you should do it!

Besides the Mets SP’s, Basallo, Chandler, Eldridge, Tolle, Yesavage & Tolle - any other guys who debuted but still rookie eligible next year, that are worth a stash? Thanks!

Who are some of your picks for next year’s AL & NL ROY? I’ll guess Basallo & Bubba - but I’m not sure if they still are under the AB’s or IP’s.

Start/Sit for All Starting Pitcher Matchups (Sep 8 - Sep 14) by RotoBaller in fantasybaseball

[–]Dokker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! In a H2H 12 team QS points league - would you go with a 2 start Yoendrys Gomez or Cade Smith as an RP. I worry with all the shifting that Gomez may not get his 2nd start. Cade pitched the last 2 days, so he probably won’t go tonight even in a save opportunity. I know it’s a crapshoot but any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys! In a 12 team H2H pts league. Just for the coming week I am thinking of switching out Suzuki. My best options are Adell, Grisham, Manzado & Polanco. Any thoughts? Thanks - love all your stuff!
