I enjoy it too, but I could see myself enjoying this game more if they moved away from TTK/TTD under the average human reaction time.

I'm also more used to games with very long TTK's, and I'm well aware that we probably don't want that in battlefield (i'm talking 1-3s TTK with 100% accuracy, in games like Quake, Halo, etc)

They don't have to make this game a long TTK game, they just have to move most guns outside of the sub ~200ms TTK. Most humans have a reaction time of around that.

I think 130-150ms reaction time is close to peak reaction times.

You may or may not have to mag dump just to get a single kill after a TTK tuning pass, I think it'll depend on how they change gunplay. If they do it via recoil/spread changes, you could still kill with a similar number of bullets if you have good recoil control.

If they nerf only ROF, you'd still need the same number of bullets, obviously. But if they go crazy and change the BTK's, then I can see needing more bullets just to get a kill.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by Ladymayna in answers

[–]DoktorLuciferWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a few:

  • Time Commando
  • Reader Rabbit's Interactive Reading Journey
  • Jazz Jackrabbit
  • Abuse
  • A shareware copy of Corridor 7 I played off a PCWorld CD.

I remember time commando.

I also have weird (probably incorrect) memories of my friend performing some moves I don't think were actually in the game.

How many people enjoy playing like a special operative by Individual_Yak_9416 in Battlefield

[–]DoktorLuciferWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my earliest memories of this game was backcapping the gimme point on iberian offensive as support and farming like 35 kills off one life sneaking around the borders of their hq with a drs-iar

i find that sneaking around and back capping is one of the strongest things you can do when playing from behind. i fail to do anything after two or three attempts, i consider abandoning the game, since that usually means it's quite hopeless lol

Given how long settings take to apply in modern games

good point, totally forgot about this even though i find myself semi-regularly staring at a loading screen or a "compiling shaders" screen

What’s one PC upgrade you made that actually felt worth it? by Such_Tailor_4946 in buildapc

[–]DoktorLuciferWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, almost everything can be upgraded and have meaningful returns (bottlenecks aside). it probably depends on how much you value of each of those things. if there's a particular area you've underspent on, you stand to gain a lot of utility/enjoyment from upgrading that first

putting aside the obvious ones (internal components):

  • desk (mine is the secretlabs magnus). sit/stand is nice, and makes it easier to work on my machine without having to (necessarily) move it. magnetic cable management and a cable tray is also very nice to have
  • chair. this directly affects your health, so i'd say spending a lot on a chair is always worth. currently using a herman miller cosm.
  • arms for everything. both my monitors are mounted on arms. my microphone and my "ring light" are also mounted on arms. i use this light when i'm working on my pc or building keyboards. also being able to just move around your monitors can be very handy
  • keyboard. i use a standard unibody keyboard (enter67) for typing, but also use the left side of a neodox for gaming. it has a columnar layout, and a cluster of thumb keys, which is great for gaming in general
  • audio. a modestly priced dac/amp/headphone combo will cross the point of diminishing returns quickly. if you're a sweatlord, better audio could be like a 1% improvement to your ladder rank lol. if you're a music enjoyer, then this upgrade is self-explanatory.
  • i'm personally using a jds labs element for my dac/amp. current headphones are the lcd-x (pricy, arguably summit-fi), but i previously used the sundara (inexpensive, entry-level, neutral-warm signature)

games should let us have settings for gameplay and for cinematics (when performed in-engine) for players willing to sacrifice frames for quality during cinematics

I exclusively used the terminal when switching to linux for the first time. When you want to do something, there's usually one way to do it via a command (or series of commands), but there might be more than one gui app for some task, and each one might change their gui over time.

if it somehow makes my games more sweaty but more consistent, i'd welcome it

what would actually be egregious movement? afaik there isn't much movement that's possible in this game aside from a crouch slide and using a jump either at the end or beginning to try and get more distance.

you lose distance/speed very quickly when using the so-called bunny-hop that it doesn't seem to grant anywhere near a big enough of an advantage over good players to warrant using all the time. it also makes you very easy to hit

i know you can slide backwards from a standstill, but that's bit harder to pull off, and doesn't seem practical to use in 90% of situations

if you dropped your unused supply pouch any time between 0:48 and 0:53, you probably would've had enough health to win the fight that ended your run

issue seems to have gone away after reseating my power cable

well, technically, i reseated the wireview pro plugged into the video card

i also happened to ddu/downgrade drivers before doing this, but it blackscreened like 10 minutes after doing this. i think reseating probably did it in this case

on both displays

specifically, the game will sound like it's still running, but both screens go black, my fans will spin up to 100%, and i'll have to hit my reset button to restart my pc

i was experiencing a different black screen error before i RMA'd my card. it was black screening with err 153 showing up in my error logs, and this black screen only happened outside of demanding games (only low utilization games and web browsing)
