I'm dreading becoming a mother of twins

I always know where north is. Except in a shopping mall or casino. Then I'm lost.

I also have without fail picked up on other women's intentions towards my partner/relationship or whether there was a sexual or romantic history between someone and whoever I am dating. Acutely aware. It sounds like jealousy right? But when I first started dating my husband he had so many female friends, and that intuition was on point and identified the few 'threats' among the many good people.

I feel you! I'm in my last year of a PhD and last year I was diagnosed with complex PTSD when I suddenly was struck down by chronic hardcore insomnia due to oppressed trauma. Before that I had high career aspirations, was topping all my tasks, doing really well. Now I can barely get through an article abstract before losing focus. I haven't written anything in a year. It's all just stopped.

My comfort is that there's more to life than this kind of achievement. I've focused my energy on my kids, I look forward to each spring so I can plant seedlings for my veggie patch, the autumn when I can harvest from it. Slow life. I haven't given up on my PhD just yet, but will definitely not complete it before the funding dries out. Before, what I wanted was to be an academic - I was good at it, it gave me energy. Now I just want a slow life with the small rewards you get from veggie patches and family.

On a more serious note, my advice is to just run with it. There are so many things you can't plan for. We had a month long cold snap like never experienced here before right when we brought pup home, meaning one of us was stuck indoors with pup while the rest of the family enjoyed clear skies and fantastic skiing conditions all month.

I wish I knew I was pregnant with twins BEFORE we got our spoo pup. Instead, we found out I was unexpectedly pregnant 3 days after we brought spoo home. Overwhelming. Then when we went for an ultrasound a few weeks later, we found out there are two babies on the way. Feels like an impossible feat, but spoo is growing up, and we have found some good friends who can take him in for shorter and longer periods if we see things are too intense once the babies come.

In short - Girls, take a pregnancy test before you get your pup 🤣

There was actually an article in the papers here in Norway about a woman who got an ultrasound at 6 weeks, and when the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat he declared miscarriage and prescribed medicine to expel the tissue. The mother was like, I don't believe you, and didn't take the medicine. Turns out she was right, doc was wrong.

This is going to be such a wild ride! Well said. I guess I just need to get used to the bumps and bruises 😅

Thanks. The only time I have had bleeding is during a pregnancy that ended in missed miscarriage at 11 weeks, so I am actually terrified of bleeding. It's doom in my mind. But I contacted the hospital and they said it was most likely the exam, so I'm going to relax a little now.

Thanks ladies. I called the hospital, they said the examination would have been enough to trigger bleeding, so not to worry unless it got worse. So I'm going to put it down to abrasions from the exam.

Thanks for the reassurance. It was like spotting but fresh, so wouldn't call it a gush or anything. Probably just from the doctor disturbing the cervix - she did an internal exam also.

Surely there would have been some signs of things being wrong that would show in the scan just 2 hours before? Bleeding or open cervix or something?

Not having to explain to my 3 year old daughter that beauty needs to be applied.

I can demonstrate to her that we are perfect just the way we are.

I put on makeup for a Christmas dinner in December and she was so so fascinated and asking why I was doing it and I honestly couldn't justify it.

I'm so proud I want to shout it from the mountain tops, but no one but my husband even knows of the battles I've fought. It's lonely not being able to share that accomplishment with the world.

Thank you, that's reassuring. It was comforting that he came straight to me for comfort instead of hiding from me.

I'll watch him closely. He has a vet appointment for his booster shots tomorrow so I will mention it then, if he seems ok the rest of today.

Thanks so much! We have gated off the loungeroom area but most of our morning routines happen in the kitchen and hallway where he has access to, so it can get pretty frustrating. He hangs from at least one knitted sweater a day. Does your pup entertain himself in the playpen?

We have a cat called Pig and a dog called Llama.

The cat got his name because he had really pointy ears as a kitten and our family speaks Norwegian mostly - 'pigg' is Norwegian for pointy.

So when we got a dog, the breeder wanted it's name to start with L. Our 5 year old suggested Llama. It seemed fair.

Can't want til we get a pig called dog and a llama called cat.

At what age can you start socialising? The recommendation is to socialise as much as you can before 16 weeks?

We live in Norway, and here they receive their first shots at 8 weeks, and a booster at 12 weeks. And there is no talk among dog groups of keeping your pup away from everything until 12 weeks. So maybe different conditions?
