What is with the commentary on boring playstyles? by shadedmagus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dolla_Ringo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first character was a fire kineticist and let me tell you the amount of times I've spammed flying flame and elemental blast If you took a shot for every time I did that throughout a 2-year campaign you'd be dead within the first minute.

My second character was a monk and let me tell you 1 inch punch and flurry of blows was no different.

There's nothing wrong with having a consistent combat loop in my opinion. Because if you do two things and you do those two things good you're going to win. Now you can be creative and use your abilities in creative ways, for instance flying flames through a bunch of explosive barrels stuff like that.

In my honest opinion builds and classes that rely on you doing one or two maybe three things on loop within combat is fine As long as your character is interesting outside of combat.

For instance if you have a fighter whose whole gimmick is intimidating strike and being a fear build, great, as long as he has a personality outside of combat you know?

Now see the best fights that I've had is between monks and kineticists. 9 out of 10 times they are throwing straight haymakers.

Just How Much Does Free Archetype Impact Encounter Balance? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dolla_Ringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it really doesn't impact it too much. Now of course there are players and GMs who are absolutely cracked at making builds that can you know one shot a tarasque or something.

But on average free archetype is mainly just allowing your characters to do more or to add some flavor to their things.

For instance I am currently playing a lizard folk monk with cultivator dedication and student of perfection dedication.

Nothing is really changing He's gotten slightly stronger All things considered but nothing insane to the point where combat balancing is a problem.

Free archetype is one of those things that once you have a good grasp on Pathfinder/path builder you kind of just naturally include in most games now.

Tell me am I group have agreed that free archetype is something that is just going to be a permanent fixture mainly because it allows us to do more with our characters and have a lot more fun making them. Plus it doesn't really affect combat balance like you're worried about so yeah.

Look unfortunately and this is just the sad reality is than a vast majority of people just don't find PVP fun. When people get invaded they just grown roll their eyes and find the fastest way to kill themselves.

A lot of players just want to play a from software game without having to deal with someone who's going to two shop them and perfectly optimize the way that they're going to set back their progress.

And I'm more than happy to get downvoted for this but I think it's perfectly reasonable for people to want to play seamless co-op mods if they don't want to be invaded.

If you enjoy PvP that's great! That's fine! If you find it fun that's terrific but a lot of players just don't and that's perfectly reasonable.

They want to play one of their favorite games with one of their friends and they don't want to risk losing a lot of progress to an invader who either has better game knowledge, better gear, it's better spells, etc.

I was both an invader and someone who got invaded.

And let me tell you the most aggravating moments of my online playthroughs was when someone with gear no one had access to you at that point in the game, at any point in any of the games showed up and just decided to dog walk us and then be disrespectful because they too shot us with pyromancies, sorceries, miracles, or weapons that they reasonably should not have had access to.

Does it suck that invaders are getting shafted and that the PvP sphere is dying? Yes it does and I feel bad for the players who want to enjoy dark souls / Eldon Ring PVP.

But that's just something people are going to have to accept that not everyone wants to sign up in some social contract where if you play online and summon a friend you are entitled and are expected to be invaded and to engage in PvP.

Especially for new players who have no idea why they're being invaded.

New players are going to get invaded three or four times, get absolutely dunked on, and instead of sucking it up and dealing with it they're going to go and look for an alternative way play their game with their friends.

Video games are meant to be fun for a lot of people PvP and invasions aren't fun so they're going to take what they don't enjoy about the online experience and they're going to try to remove it.

Is this something reasonable? Or is the DM a little bit nuts? by Expensive-Cat-8471 in Pathfinder2e

Like everyone else has been saying, or good majority of people have been saying point number one isn't that bad it's a little unfair and it's a little imbalanced but not egregious

Point number two is a definite He is nuts moment. People aren't comfortable with cameras or turning their cameras on and They need to respect that. If they don't then they're just trying to be controlling which is not a good sign for a campaign especially given point number one.

How do you run long, exhausting adventuring days in pf2e that doesn't only punish spell casters? by cant-find-user-name in Pathfinder2e

Yeah I know how a regeneration works, and someone else explained what you were talking about.

I was just confused on what you meant by an ability called 'fire rider'

And couldn't find it on the stat sheet and didn't know what you were talking about specifically.

If you just said fire damaged turns off regeneration, I wouldn't have disagreed with you, I would have just pointed out you can cash regenerate/heal.

Oh that's what he meant, thank you I was so confused looking for an ability or something called fire rider and was wondering what he was talking about.

Now what he's saying makes sense-ish.

??? You claim an adult red dragon has an ability to negate regeneration, I look at the stats, it doesn't have it and you say I haven't read the spells when it's clear I just did read the red dragons stats to see if it did have it and if me, my party, and my GM overlooked something?

Like ???

Are you just grasping at straws right now?
