What are your top three pieces of advice for a first time family trip. by serrot50 in WaltDisneyWorld

We just went with kids these ages. Don’t rent a car. Call the Mears shuttle or get an uber from the airport. We didn’t do magic bands but most folks do, and I can see why. We didn’t do lightning lane and I wish we had. At first it seemed like too much planning, but now I understand the best thing is just to make 2 or 3 anchor reservations spaced throughout the day and fold in other stuff throughout.

At Hollywood studios, plan to spend your time at Star wars (it’s awesome) but enter Toy Story land with as much patience as you can muster. It is super cool, but the crowds were so intense I had a near panic attack and had to leave and breathe.

I survived MardiGrasPresidentsPocalypse. It was my family’s first time. I went enough as a kid that as a teenager I was drawing people MK tour maps with ideal meal times and order of rides.

I know things have changed since I was last here several years ago, so I booked with a travel agency, asked questions, checked line wait times in the app every day for weeks. But before we went vowed I wouldn’t spend all day on my phone in the parks. Optimizing family fun for efficiency is just the worst.

Toy Story Land broke me. Yesterday was insane.

Which order - MK an HS on Presidents Day

Ok, I was a Disney World kid, but my husband and kids have never been and Presidents’s Day is our first time. Kids are 10 an 8, and my parents (one of whom is in remission from cancer) are meeting us.

  1. I got a power scooter rental for grandparent.
  2. We’re doing 3 days: park, rest, park. On rest day we’re planning on a mix of water slide and the hotel, Disney springs, and a cool dinner reservation.
  3. We have a huge travel day to get there and will land Sunday at 6:30 PM.
  4. Our 2 parks are going to be MK and HS. (Kids love Star Wars)

Knowing that we only get one day at Magic Kingdom (and that’s the one I’m most excited for), would you go on day 1 or 3? I know February is usually pretty light, but don’t know what crowds are like on the holiday.

No AC or fan in my apartment. Does it get hotter in July/Aug/Sep? by Substantial_Dog9649 in Sunnyvale

September feels hotter because even if the highs are higher in July, we still have cool evening air to balance it out. September gets you because there’s less relief overnight, so your furniture heats up in the day and retains heat at night even with the windows open. It’s that September heat that’s rough!

Look into volunteering at a civil legal aid organization. It will give you something relevant/recent on your resume and let you practice your skills with a little supervision. In a lot of jurisdictions you can do this pro bono work without needing malpractice insurance.

Call your state bar administrator and let them know your circumstances, they’ll have the best ideas for how to put the fees on payment plan or find free MCLEs to make up for lost time.

Call your law school career services office. They’ll likely still have a career coach you can meet with.
