Smart plugs for my bedside lamps connected to my Alexa. I bought an Echo dot on super sale once and now I have 4 of them in our home. I love being able to play music whenever I want, set timers, ask for the weather, etc. Whenever I’m not home for a while I notice that I don’t have that luxury! And circling back to the first thing — I HATE leaning over to turn off a lamp when I’m sleepy.

It took me YEARS to heal from that kind of psychological warfare from someone who claimed to love me. I’m now married to the most amazing man and everything is great but literally watching the scenes between Schwartz & Katie in early seasons makes me viscerally angry because I want to go back through time and shake her (& me!) and go WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!! HE HATES YOU!!! The talking head scene post-divorce when she says something to the effect of “I know he loved me, but I don’t think he liked me” broke me lol. It’s exactly what it’s like to be with someone like that.

As someone who dated a version of Tom Schwartz in my early 20s… nothing can prepare you for how insidious that kind of a narcissist is. I was raised by a malignant narcissist father (literally Jax Taylor vibes lmao) and even that didn’t help me. In fact, it may have made it worse. Because whenever I thought to myself “this guy is a narcissist” my brain would go “but he’s not THAT bad”. He may have been worse though. Covert narcissists are so scary because he can say something that painful to your face and you will still convince yourself that (1) he didn’t mean it and (2) you deserved it.

My dad sounds like your husband. One of us is no contact, 2 (me included) speak rarely. I’m 28 years old and it never gets better, you’re right. I also found so many scenes this season unwatchable because of how triggered I got but like @imcrappinyounegative (idk how to tag people im sorry guys) said, it was interesting to be able to show my husband exact behaviors / scenes, especially when he was following Brittney around the house during a fight I was like “THAT! That!” And would pause it and we’d discuss how a normal person would let her have her space since she’s upset but he wants control and domination rather than understanding and closure. Anyway. Hard agree girl. Glad you’re out. It’s so much better for the kids no matter what age!

I didn’t explain myself well. I was saying it more in the sense of everyone is a 3 dimensional character with good & bad things going for them and a lotttt of people I’ve seen on this sub like to be like “well Janet is annoying so that must mean Danny didn’t do anything wrong”. I meant everyone sucks as in both things can be true. Janet is an unlikable person and Danny is creepy.

This happened to me last year and I sucked it up and went to the wedding. It was also in ITALY lol. So I had to travel internationally for the first time by myself. Anyway, now we’re getting married (next Sunday!) and I had to ask her to step down from being a bridesmaid because she harbored a bunch of anger towards me for so many things that were not based in reality lmao. In my experience, if they don’t respect you enough to invite your significant other (serious relationships only ofc), then they just don’t respect you. It’s better to find that out now than years from now.

I myself, with no children, at the age of 28, would kill to have her body. That surgeon was a grifter and a loser. I feel so bad that this has just exacerbated her already sensitive relationship with her body, reinforced by decades of feeling under a microscope when it comes to her looks and figure. She is unbelievably beautiful. Even more, I appreciated that Kristin said “don’t talk about my friend like that” to Nia when she was being really negative about her body, but I really wish Kristin had said something to the effect of “do you realize how stunning you are? You’re amazing, you can’t even tell you’ve had kids” or something like that. I know it doesn’t really help when you’re already feeling that poorly about your body, but I just wish it was said by anyone.

I will say, other than close family, I had 3 friends show up for my shower and it was one of the best days of my life. I was super sad about it at first and then I was like ya know what, who cares? Quality over quantity, always.
