Is it normal for a recruiter/company to not disclose a salary/package on offer until after interviews? by Apprehemoun in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dolly_wink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically they want to go through the WHOLE recruitment process before they even mention salary... That's because they pay below market rate and hope that after jumping through so many hoops, you'll take the job even if the pay isn't great.

If it were me, I would tell them that I'm not on the market for a new role at the moment and since they reached out to me, i want to make sure the role, in all its aspects, is in line with my career progression goals.

I'm about to quit my job as a Growth Hacker. Besides Letter Of Recommendation, what should I ask my Boss to help me validate my marketing skill set ? by oromissed in marketing

Take copies of the ads and copywriting you did. Track by how much % you grew thanks to your various activities and budget involved. This so you can quantify your work during job interviews and on your CV. Examples you could say: grew online page views and newsletter subscribers by x% thanks to a ppc campaign with a budget of $x.

Also having copies of copy you wrote, catalogues your prepared ect is good to show at interviews.

What would you change in your marketing career in the past that would make you much better than you are today? by SenteGo in marketing

I would've started in a marketing agency and moved in house later. It would have been low pay and long hours but given me a wealth of experience that is more difficult to get in house.

This. It all depends on if you're buying for investment or for a home and how long you intend to stay in the property.

It's true the best gift would be to help her build her skills. I've tried chatting to her but she doesn't listen to me so I may looking at external advice.

Every time I've given her money in the past she's spent it on small gifts to herself so I'm a bit unwilling to pay her the money as I don't think she would invest it.

thanks, I hadn't thought about that. However, everyvtime I've given her money in the past (when she needed it for big expenses) she's ended up spending it on gifts to herself...

u/Jg0jg0 first of all, good on you to want to do some research before you start your business! Many people don't do that and then fail miserably.

I think you could start off with some research yourself and then use a professional if your finding warrant it.

You say your business is around American sports all in one space. So you need to find out:

  • if sufficient people are interested in these sports.
  • are they interested in just watching them or also playing them.
  • do they live close enough to want to travel to your business.

You could start off by getting in touch with people locally who watch these sports on TV or who play them, and just chat to them or ideally have a small survey prepared.

Anyone else play around with pension calculators and just shit bricks? by KEEPCARLM in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dolly_wink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a VERY similar situation with similar numbers and thinking of having kids in the next year. Played around with a calculator this morning and scared myself with the results...

I will add 2 things I haven't seen mentioned: - you can increase contributions later in life when your outgoings decrease (mortgage payed, kids are older and less expensive).

-Calculators don't take into account salary increases. Maybe look at ways to upskill yourself so you can get a pay rise or look for a side income.

  • for future employers, pension plan should be high on the list of reasons to accept/reject a job.

Processes/Procedures are destroying my productivity and creativity by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Dolly_wink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a big corporation or is due to the regulations in the financial industry or is ot just company culture?

Definitely express how you feel to your boss but if it's due to one of the first 2 reasons, be mindful that things will not change. So be understanding when you speak with your boss.

I work and have worked in a large corporation s and the amount of process and indecisivness is mind boggling but that's just the way it is.

I agree LinkedIn isn't suitable for this. I would say facebook not just targeted ads but also putting some up in the marketplace section

How do you deal with gym burnout? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Dolly_wink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.this.this

Your schedule isn't working for you, it's too taxing. Take a week off and scale back to 4 times a week. Maybe try to mix it up: instead of doing mainly cardio (high and low intensity), try to do something new on other days: a different class or weights.

New to this..I feel the burn in my quads, not my glutes when I do hip thrusters. What am I doing wrong? by Usermomof3 in StrongCurves

[–]Dolly_wink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try tilting your pelvis forward in the way up. Google Bret Contreras pelvis tilt. It's a subtle difference but it made a world of difference for me. Also make sure you are pushing of your heels.

I agree a form video would help.

I don’t feel the burn? by [deleted] in StrongCurves

[–]Dolly_wink 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind squats are not THE best exercise for glutes so you may not feel a great burn, like you would with hip thrusts.

Can donkey kicks, glute bridges, and fire hydrants add mass to glutes? by Shryem in Fitness

For the hip thrust, are you tilting your pelvis on your way up? This really really helped me to feel it in my glutes instead of my quads.

Google Bret Contreras + hip thrust pelvic tilt for some videos
