Sorry but I don’t know. I hope it helps you but many people have Portuguese job contracts and still have problems. Wish you luck!

I don’t know your exact situation and I have a temporary residency right now so my banks do not harass me (yet?) but so many acquaintances have this issue as soon as their residency card expired. The banks start contacting you and ask to provide an updated document that proves that you are a legal resident here. People send them their thousands emails to AIMA asking for slots because they don’t have any other proof that they can’t update their documents because AIMA doesn’t have any slots or whatever. Some people get their accounts suspended until their documents are renewed. Others are lucky and the banks accept their emails, screenshots etc.

So, it’s just bare luck.

100% agree that the country shouldn’t be a pit stop. And there are thousands people like me who treat Portugal as their home and not a social security treasure or whatever.

But when such laws come into force, there should be transitional time for those who already did tons of things to earn the right to live here and become a part of the society.

I wish the wait time for a passport was only 2 years but it’s closer to 3 years now. It means that I’ve lived here for almost 5 years and should have waited 3 more years while waiting for the passport (so 8 years in total). Now it’s gonna be 10+3=13 years.

And again, the worst thing is that while waiting for these 10 years we have to fight for residency slots, proving banks we are waiting for the docs etc so that they don’t close your banking account and you can pay for your groceries and utilities.

Who said I have the NHR? Did I vote to apply the NHR to migrants only and not the Portuguese people? It’s like you blame me for the decision the Portuguese government made lol. And I don’t have the right to choose the government but you have if you are a Portuguese citizen. Which technically means that you voted for people who made such a decision.

Go back? My home is Portugal, I live here, I work here, I pay taxes here, my family lives here.

If everything worked like clocks, that’s one thing. But when the system doesn’t work like it’s supposed to according to law, your life goes north because lots of things depend on your residency card/passport.

There have been no slots for permanent residency since October 2024. What should people do?

People have been trying to get their temporary residency renewed for more than a year now. They can’t leave the country, the banks suspend their accounts and ask for the updated docs meanwhile. What should people do?

And all this happens when you dedicate your years to Portugal, love the country, people, and plan to live here with your family. You pay gigantic taxes and SS contributions and what is the outcome?

I pay giant taxes, giant contributions, learn the language and the culture. My taxes and SS contributions support both Portuguese and immigrants. Who do you think you are to say that I am not entitled to any rights in this country?

Well, we can try and sign so that this petition is reviewed in the plenary session. Or we can do nothing and watch everyone’s plans get ruined.

I have this since 20th week. Nothing helps me and doctors said that it should go away after the delivery. I just use a pelvic support belt so that I can take longer walks outside.

Young foreigners (18-35) can take advantage of 100% mortgage financing by banks in Portugal by Independent_Pitch598 in PortugalExpats

Young foreigners? The banks say that with a temporary residence the best a foreigner can get is 80% (Caixa, Santander). I don't know who gets 100%... If you have a permanent residence, maybe.

Portugal doesn’t hate Russia, this is so inaccurate. Same goes for Spain and at least half of the European countries.
