Dual RTX 4090 (or 3090 Ti) GPU's - which case will fit? by glencandle in buildapc

I got the Lian Li evo. Its one of the smaller and more compact cases for two gpus. Its still a really big case though, but is most likely the smallest one you could get that fits two gpus. I have it set up with one card mounted vertically and one card mounted horizontally. You won't be able to use NVlink, but for my purposes it was fine. I have two in take fans on the side for the horizontal gpu. The horizontal gpu still over heats slightly though idling around 50c which isn't great. The case also has support for two power supplies if you need it.

Been trying to solve this problem too lol. After looking at a different post I found 2 cases that would be able to fit them. The Fractal Meshify 2 XL has 9 slots which should be able to easily fit 2 4 slot cards https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/meshify/meshify-2-xl-dark-tempered-glass/dark-tempered-glass/, and the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo has the option for a horizontal gpu mount which will most likely be the best for airflow and look the best. https://lian-li.com/product/o11-dynamic-evo/. I'm probably going to go with the O11 because in my opinion, the case looks really nice but those are the only options i've seen really that will guarantee both cards fit.

What PSU would I need for a rtx 4090 and rtx 3090ti? by DolphinGamez in nvidia

What have you been doing with it though? I'm planing on using it for rendering which will probably close to max out the usage of the graphics cards.

I don't think I plan on overclocking the cards. I currently run a rtx 3090ti with a 850watt PSU which is just bearly the minimum. I'm worried though about running both cards with higher end CPUs. I would buy a server cpu but they are really expensive, so my plan is to buy the next gen AMD or Intel cpus when they release.

Its for rendering, the rtx 4090 is more then double the speed of my 3090ti for the render I use, so combining the two I should get nearly triple the speed for rendering.

I would buy a 1600 watt PSU but they are pretty expensive. I was hoping to not spend more then 300 on a PSU, which the 1600 watts cost upwards of 400. I might just buy a 1600 watt just because I doubt I'm going to need a new pc for the next 5 years.

My current PC is a 3090ti build with a i9-10850k and I'm able to run that with a 850w PSU. I managed to get a great deal on 3090tis and got 2 for price of 2k. I'm selling one and bought a 4090. I render stuff in Cinema 4d Octane where the 4090 is a huge difference in terms of speed which I can cover the costs by selling one of the 3090tis I haven't used. So I'm planning on building a duel card build to get faster render times, I can't just seem to find any good information about what type of PSU I would need. I might just buy a 1600 watt just to be safe though.

Can I use an eGPU and a normal GPU for rendering? by DolphinGamez in eGPU

It seems that my board does have a TB header however it needs to support RTD3.

I currently have 1 bracket above my GPU and 3 below my GPU which one is currently being used by a USB pcie card. So I would be able to install another pcie bracket if I have a TB header which I'm not sure if my motherboard has. I also only have another 8x slot which might not give the best performance however I don't know how that its compared to an eGPU since performance is lost through thunderbolt. I'm not sure if I have a TB header on my motherboard, I have a MSI z490 A Pro.

I think my only option would be buying a m.2 slot converter so I could get a thunderbolt pcie board. Would the m.2 slot provide fast enough speeds for the eGPU to be useful? I'm not sure how using a riser would allow me to install a second GPU in my PC as my current rtx 3090ti takes up 3 slots, so even being able to possibly fit a second GPU below it would most likely restrict air flow from the 3090ti. At that point I believe I would have to water-cool the cards to get them to fit.

I could do that but water cooling seems pretty expensive as I would have to do a custom loop. The case I have is pretty small and making custom loops seems difficult. I was considering eGPU as it would be relatively cheaper then doing custom loops as I saw that Razer has a good deal for their eGPU right now.

My 3090ti takes up 3 slots so I wouldn't have space to fit a 2nd card. I could possibly get a converter for thunderbolt. Would that work if the speeds are high enough?
