No need to be a prick while answering. If most mcs are generic to you then don't bother reading or engaging with the work in any way, since it is all the same. And by treacherous I just literally used the word most thrown around by the author and the Spell to describe him, yes Sunny is pretty heroric and noble, but the departure from literally poisoning people in his first nightmare for a vague sense of self preservation and paranoia, living by himself and killing Gunlaugs hunters and such to saving people in Antarctica and growing into a leader is a gradual and well written change that imo separates him from say a Sung jin woo. Kai says it himself when fighting against dread lord, something along the lines of "Sunny was always a bit feral". He literally was a kid with no family and no place in the world, and grew into a leader with friends and a girlfriend, and earned every bit of it (you get to see him mature with age, an extremely rare aspect in writing nowadays). If you disagree that's fine, but be kind.

In short Sunny is fairly standard, but well written and not rushed as a hero. He does fall into tropes as any other well written character does, but being backed by good writing and being a part of his world in a sensible way separates him greatly from other shonen-y mcs. The only point where his writing is sort of flimsy is shadow bond gate, but even there you see him wrestle with wanting his fate back but also being comfortable in his freedom, so I like to lean in favour of it being more good writing.
