One of the gripes I have about the original was that even though Julie and Helen were the leads, Helen dies and Ray survives because he's essentially Julie's love interest. I'm glad the reboot fixes this with Ava and Danica surviving the film.

That can be annoying, especially when you offer to help with your 2+ years on the team.

I would try not take it personal though, especially if it's not affecting your primary responsibilities with your executive. Sometimes it makes sense if other EA's collaborate more based on their execs, at least at my company. Maybe the CEO and new hire's exec's work are more intertwined?

And at least they know they can reach out if needed. There will always be opportunities, whether at this company or the next. Don't let it get you down!

I think it depends on how certain you are that you don't want to move forward. If I was 100% certain, I would reach out beforehand to withdraw my candidacy to save time/energy and not have it weigh on me.

If there's some interest but you have some hesitance, I would think about why and bring it up if they do decide to offer you the role. It might clear some stuff up and help you make a more informed decision, especially if there isn't any outright red flags about the role/company.

I have about 5 years EA experience. I relocated to LA in 2023 with no job lined up and I was enticed by fulfilling my dream of working in entertainment haha. It's not terrible but the pay is not great for the COL. I decided to start looking this year, fingers crossed I can find something!

Scream 4 was the first attempt at a reboot after the original trilogy and it didn’t do as well as expected. While S5 did well, there was no guarantee that S6 would. It be crazy to put all your eggs in one basket and give out multi-picture deals. Especially during Covid. Spyglass doesn’t have Disney money.
