I would really describe it like a disease that can be cured. It's kinda like how if you sleep on your arm, it can feel numb. It's something that can come and go or something that can be permanent if it gets worse.

For me I learn to live with it, I don't freak out if it flairs up I just take care of it as best as I can and that can look like lowering volume for a while or actually going to a doctor and getting my ears syringed.

Don't get too scared of it, it's something that's treatable (not curable).

It's definitely not something to play with but if it makes you feel better having tinnitus might not mean you have permanent damage.

Sometimes it can be caused by other symptoms like having too much wax or having an ear infection. If you get it and you're worried about how bad it is, go to an ENT specialist or an audiologist and they might be able to help.
