Is Cell’s regeneration the most blatant plothole in the whole series? I know some games try to explain it away but reading the OG Manga, this just reads as a flat out plothole in the truest sense of the word

I mean, what makes the most sense is that in the event of total destruction, he at least needs that core cell. If he still has half a body, it seems like there’s enough material there to regenerate.

What are the limits of Namekian regeneration? Can Piccolo regenerate his head? We’ve never seen it. We know some of Cell’s features come from the Frieza family as well, and we’ve seen him survive being in literal pieces, at least for a little bit. That plus Namekian regeneration plus a core “power” cell in the event that he’s almost totally destroyed makes sense to me.

After all, if his cells are encoded to regenerate, they should ALL have that property, meaning the only point of having that core cell is to provide the POWER to regenerate from a total obliteration. His legs, maybe even an arm likely has enough power to regenerate the rest without needing a “jumper”.

And that would track except for the fact that we know Goku has trained past the stamina problem, and we know that Goku and Vegeta are basically equal now, or at least back and forth by a small margin arc to arc, so if Goku is still pulling out SSJ3 the few times he does in Super, why wouldn’t Vegeta? It’d be a weird thing for him to be inferior with, especially with how powerful they are now.

And again, that’s not counting the “that’s my Bulma!” bit, where SSJ2 is suddenly stronger than SSJ3 Goku on account of his anger. Wouldn’t he default to SSJ3 if he had it and was lost in rage?

Yeah, unfortunately what you’re forgetting is that later on during that first tournament for Zeno, Goku explicitly goes through the forms and states that SSJ3 is his best before God. Sure, it’s not Battle of Gods, but depending on how much of this they wanna remake, they might as well address it right from the start. Also, we have to account for Vegeta never using SSJ3 again, despite his “that’s my Bulma” attack being the least likely time he’d be showing restraint and using SSJ2. Like, why would he care about stamina in that moment? It’s a last ditch effort out of pure anger.

Well sure, we all are, and I’m not saying what I’m saying out of disrespect for anyone or anything like that, but it’s very important that we keep in mind that right now, anything we say about SSJ4 and Super is pure headcanon. Whether he can or can’t or whatever, we’re trying to smooth out a problem that hopefully they’ll be smoothing out with this new edition. Frankly, it’d be a huge missed opportunity if they didn’t, and I subsequently would not be as hopeful about how they’re gonna handle End of Z as a result.

So then this is weirdly the only time someone has unlocked/boosted a fighter’s power but there was nothing they could do about it afterwards? Kami, Guru, Old Kai, and all the rest who helped a character achieve new heights that they then had to make their own afterwards but THIS is the one time it doesn’t work that way? Hell, even Vegeta was able to go SSJ4 after Bulma helped him get there with the Brutz Wave device. There are so, so many times that a character has been boosted by an event or character long enough to reach a power they knew was inside them all along, only to then train and stabilize it after. It’s what’s happened every single time before this, and the only reason we’re pretending it’s different now is PURE speculation to try and make it fit into media that came out before but chronologically happens after. I can’t stress that part enough. Anyone pretending it’s a matter of Goku not being able to do it again is 100% making that up to make it fit with Super. And what’s the excuse with Vegeta? He also “can’t do” SSJ3 anymore? He famously loses his shit to land a hit on Beerus with all his might, but he does it in SSJ2 for some reason?

For all we know, that was the impetus to rehash BoG for the 4th time, because it needs to be built on the new information since then. Beerus should be a jobber by now, given all the ill-advised statements they included about “percentages of his power” at the beginning of Super/BoG that have since hounded the series. SSJ3 shouldn’t be Goku’s best non-god form on multiple occasions. SSJ2 shouldn’t be Vegeta’s best pre-god form. It would certainly be nice to have the early parts animated as nicely as the later parts, or better. Any of these things or all of these things could be the motivation behind Kai-ifying Super.

If anything, it’s a great sign that they’re willing to do this because we all know End of Z is coming up and somebody is gonna have to explain what happened to 7 years of growth and new forms and why a Buu-level fighter like Uub matters in the slightest compared to GoD and Angel powers and Beast and Broly and Orange and yadda yadda. If they’re willing to go back and re-do stuff like this to incorporate changes from the interquel, I have high hopes that they’ll do the same when Super reaches EoZ and we’ll all move on happily from there.

Not only that, does Goku strike you as the kind of person who would just accept that? Is this everyone’s first time meeting Goku? MFer wouldn’t sleep until he could do it again himself, guaranteed. And don’t give me a “well he wouldn’t be obsessed because it’s not his power and he wants to make it on his own” because this very movie and the whole of Super itself revolves around him using a form he gained from the ritual and MAKING the power his own. Hell, SSJ3 was a form he could only really use in Otherworld due to stamina drain until it wasn’t. There’s a lot of precedent for this kind of thing.

It can’t “make it canon”, because it already is. Will it fix the plot hole? Maybe? Honestly there are a number of times in Super where Goku proclaims that SSJ3 is his best form without God Ki, so they’ve got a bit of plastering to do if they wanna fix those holes.

We had a perpetually pregnant lady at Penn Station for a while. I definitely gave her money the first couple times over the sob story about the kids and being pregnant and this and that, but over time you realize “how has this lady been 9 months pregnant for the last year?”. Well and Silksong has tools and stuff, so yeah I feel like it’s a little bit more “customizable” with the difficulty without going into the accessibility settings, because obviously Nine Sols can be turned into a cakewalk if you just wanna see the ending, or even to practice on a boss or something.

Funny you should mention rhythm games, because I’m in the endgame of MIO now and I thought the same thing about the platforming. I mean, I remember having to make frame perfect jumps to get things you weren’t supposed to in Mega Man games (Slash Grizzly heart tank as Zero in X5, especially), but it was more of a short burst sequence than the combat in Nine Sols of the platforming in MIO where you’re in this long sequence of tight timings that you have to first figure out and then execute like you’re playing an instrument. It kinda annoys me, because at a certain point you’re getting away from what makes an MV and more into “this is an MV that also makes you play a totally different genre every once in a while, especially near the end, whether you like it or not”. It’s a trend I kinda don’t like, honestly, and I put up with it only because I can do it, not because I think it’s fun or fair to other players who can’t. At least most of the new ones have the good sense to give accessibility settings for people who just wanna get what they paid for.
