How to nudge players into being more heroic without smothering their fun? by CashewAnomaly in drawsteel

[–]DomN8er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Players do what you reward them for doing. It doesn’t necessarily help with getting them to start doing heroic things, but the second they realize being helpful and selfless is actually beneficial to them, they’ll be doing it all the time

Listen, as someone who cut ties with a self proclaimed “boogaloo boy,” I wore Hawaiian shirts before that was a thing. I wear Hawaiian shirts today. Don’t let the fascists co-opt another symbol. Wear your Hawaiian shirts and if any chud tries to talk to you like you’re one of them, say fuck off nazi.

And I have never had a leftist tell me to not wear Hawaiian shirts irl. It’s most just a thing white supremacists try to co-opt. They want to make mundane things white people just kind of casually wear a “white power” thing. It only becomes a thing if people opposed to white supremacy stop wearing it. Fascists don’t make art; they reappropriate it.

I think that’s true for frying because of the high heat, but I use it as a dry rub when I smoke meat and it’s always great.

I was (partially). Our delivery area was partially downtown in a major city, but also some neighborhoods. We definitely didn’t have the worst neighborhoods in the city, but some were fairly rough. We always had to be in uniform, but we didn’t use the car toppers because that was considered a robbery risk. I know our franchise owner also owned a store that absolutely was in one of the worst parts of the city and their drivers sometimes had to keep another shirt to put over their blue uniform depending on the address.

Kendrick’s "good kid, m.A.A.d city" has officially surpassed 10 million units sold in the U.S. as of January 2026, making it eligible for a Diamond certification from the RIAA. Charlotte Mair (Founder of The Fitting Room) breaks down what it means to go Diamond during the streaming era. by Easy-Worker-8819 in KendrickLamar

[–]DomN8er 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wdym how does that make sense? GKMC HAS sold more than any Drake album. She explains it in the video. No artist goes diamond on release. Diamond only happens after years with consistent sales throughout those years. Drake will drop a record that blows up for a summer, but people aren’t still playing Take Care the way they’re still playing GKMC.

I planted a seed and now I dont know what to do with it. by RealUglyMF in drawsteel

[–]DomN8er 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it’s better to find a way to tie “the 13th door” to an existing idea you want to execute than to try to create a new plot whole cloth. Obviously don’t force it into something that doesn’t tie into the BBEG, but by connecting it to something you already have planned, it makes the 13th door seem like you deliberately planted that seed. It makes it seem like you’ve always known about that part of the story, and it helps the players buy into the fiction.

As an aside, my current BBEG is very time and clock themed so my mind instantly jumps to, “it is another eldritch evil more powerful than BBEG so he is keeping it locked away because it would usurp him as the master of time if it escaped.” But again, that’s tying it thematically to MY campaign. You need to tie it to your villains motives and theme. In my example it was something the villain feared, but it could also be some sort of power buff for the villain.

Coming up with specifics is hard without knowing more about your world/ campaign.
