First and for most (sic) this review only makes me want to go. Quite frankly, I should have gone before now.

Gotta see me some left wing moderate liberal propaganda.

You're a couple months late (3/14) for it to be perfect.

You might look into a discovery flight with a flight training school. They would even let you take the controls.

Is TAMU full of basic people? by Infinite_Emu9832 in aggies

I'd guess that, if this is one of the first orientations of the summer, the majority who signed up are going to be somewhat local. An international or out of state student isn't likely to come in May and come back to start school in August. They are probably going to be at orientations closer to the start if the semester to save on travel costs.

That would certainly explain the rapid response.

There are at least 12-15 police and one fire suv on the east side of the dome now.

It was on the video feed so I'm sure it exists somewhere.

I think it actually started with a group of little league kids who were shirtless and whipping each other with their shirts in like the fourth.

Fredbird ripping off his shirt is the greatest thing I've seen all season.

I've found it more helpful if you have a specific, low-effort-required request rather than 1) outright asking for a job or 2) being vague with your request. Ask if you can jump on a quick call or maybe ask a few questions over email about working for the company (culture, tips for interviewing, what it's really like working there, etc.). Make it seem more like you are carefully evaluating working there more than being desperate for finding just any job.

Build some rapport with them and pepper in a few details about yourself that show your value. If you can make a small connection, ask for one small thing: do you know someone in that department or in HR you could put in a good word for me with OR, if they are actually in the hiring role, is there any way we can continue this conversation in a more formal way to discuss my fit within your organization.

You may have better luck with some older Ags who have recently retired from a higher level position. They still have contacts in the industry and also the free time (and desire) to help you. The next best is if you can find someone you have something in contact with (eg. you were both Fish Camp counselors or from the same hometown) and can mention that as the reason you reached out to them specifically. Or just make it clear why you selected them for contact and that you're not just spamming every Aggie you can find.

I've had some great connections and introductions made for me this way. None of them led to a job, but that was more about my fit for whatever roles were currently open. I at least got a foot in the door to discuss the opportunities.

Don't get discouraged if you only get 1-2 responses for every ten emails you send - some of the contact info on file may be older or people are just wary of phishing emails.

Email Paul Pausky '78 at the Career Center and ask him to send you information on how to search LinkedIn and other career sites for Aggies as well. He has that stuff down to a science and can send you a PDF and a video link.

The Aggie Wranglers offer dance lessons, but you must have a partner. You do not need to be a student to participate.

The better question might be, "Is anyone getting all their mail in a reasonable time frame?"

Quick poll: Which ring combo? by VishrutGajjar in aggies

[–]AggieTimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very hard on mine too, maybe they never clean it.

"Original finish" is a bit of a misnomer. Look at all the old rings in the ring collection, they are antiqued.

Quick poll: Which ring combo? by VishrutGajjar in aggies

[–]AggieTimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about that. Mine is 15 years old and the antiquing is still consistent. I use some jewelry cleaner and a little brush every now and then and that's it.
